Wherever I decide to get food after the parade. Nobody wants to go with me, and nobody is planning a real dinner.

LOL @ Tommyboy.....
We are ordering food from my MIL's country club because somehow she ended up with like a $500 credit there and she has dementia so it's not like she's really able to go to the club herself.
They usually do turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, veggies, salad and rolls. I'll probably make a couple pies.

My grandmother is making a turkey and a cheese ball (at my request.)
My mom is making dressing, gravy, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, a corn casserole and apple dumplings.
My aunt is making an asparagus casserole because it is all she knows how to make and buying a bag of rolls.
I think we are making Cherry Coke cupcakes. lol

I, too, am going to the parade this year but I'm preparing most of the meal the night before and re-heating it when I get back from the parade.
The menu:
shrimp cocktail
butternut squash soup
turkey with sausage dressing and low-fat gravy
sweet potatoes
brussel sprouts
low-fat/sugar free pumpkin pie (topped with dark chocolate chips and crystalized ginger)
roasted chestnuts
champagne (the diabetic-friendly choice for the holidays)

My son has informed me that the only thing he will eat is the turkey and the bread. He's such a freak. I mean who doesn't like mashed potatoes?

Stock believe, as a kid I was a PICKY eater around Thanksgiving food. The simple solution: Green Bean Casserole with the fried onions. Sorry but those things are amazing.

Now soliciting suggestions for two items:
1 - I randomly purchased some chestnuts from the farmer's market on Sunday. Haven't eaten them since I was a kid. Any side dish recipes that might work well with chestnuts? Also just considering roasting them alone. Any methods recommended that don't involve special equipment? Options available: stove top, electric oven, outdoor bbq gas grill.
2 - I've been tasked with dessert this year. In prior years I've made:
a blackberry crumble with sherry infused whipped cream,
pumpkin spice cake with crystallized ginger and chile pineapple cream cheese frosting,
dark chocolate bacon cupcakes,
persimmon/white chocolate bread pudding
Been asked to prepare something that's served warm and goes well with cream, but not a traditional apple, pumpkin, cherry, pecan pie.

Wow those are some specific desert quotas. Have you tried blueberry pie? That might work.
For my house:
Beef tenderloin
Mashed potatoes
Triple Corn Spoon Bread (an elaborate cornbread)
Yeast Rolls
Green beans cooked in bacon fat
Stuffing
And then for desert we are making both pecan pie and banana cream pie

Vienna sausages
Crackers
Sliced "maters"
Sliced onions
Paprika Pringles
Ding Dongs
Beer
Seriously though, it's just the three of us this year, all picky eaters each in our own way. Hubby has only asked for dressing (aka stuffing), and he's easy, so that means a bag of Stouffer's. Or just dining out may be an option. Man, I hate cooking. Lol
Some of the menus posted sound like Food Network or something!

Oh man...
Turkey & dressing
Cranberry sauce
1000-calorie mashed potatoes (not kidding)
Smashed turnips
Candied yams
Pearl onions w/ sherry cream sauce
Corn pudding
Baked ziti
Spaghetti w/ garlic/olive oil
Stuffed shrimp
Calamari
Green bean casserole
And a ridiculous assortment of appetizers and dessert. I'm making the green bean casserole (from scratch), as well my signature white chocolate/bourbon bread pudding.

My sister and I are inviting our father over to our new apartment, and since it's just the three of us, we're doing pheasant instead of turkey. With the pheasant we're having:
Wild rice stuffing
Roasted root vegetables
Sweet potato casserole
String beans with almonds and garlic
Cranberry relish
Garlic bread
And pumpkin cheesecake for dessert

When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain.
