This reminds me of the WAR HORSE movie trailer.

Daniel Day Lewis looks great, but he doesn't sound how I imagine Lincoln to sound. Sally Feild looks awesome!

The only voice I associated Lincoln with was the one at Disneyland.

Yes. By most historical accounts, he was described as having a high-pitched voice.

Because of North and South, I associate Hal Holbrook's voice as Lincoln's, so when his voice popped in, I was confused.

That Smithsonian article points out that most people of that era were even surprised by it when they first heard him speak. It's not just a modern preconception, it was around back then, too. Most politicians spoke with baritone or bass voices. Not Lincoln. He was a tenor. And it took some getting used to.

As for the trailer, I was hoping for something a little more gritty and raw. It seems too polished, poised, and "golden-hued" for me. Sure, that's fine for Warhorse, which has a bit of a storybook feel to it.

I guess I didn't expect "Lincoln" to have a storybook feel to it as well.

I won't be able to watch this for a couple more hours, but I'm excited that it's out. I'm fascinated and intrigued by the comments on his voice, as I was wondering how DDL would handle it, given the historical accounts. But I'm also dismayed by the comments about it looking or feeling like "War Horse."

I find it hard to get excited about Spielberg movies for that very reason. He lost his balls somewhere, and "Lincoln" seemed like a great chance for him to get them back.

We'll see, of course. I'll be glad to see Daniel Day-Lewis, and Sally Field as Mary Todd Lincoln is just brilliant casting, and Tony Kushner as screenwriter is definitely promising.

It's just those words DIRECTED BY STEVEN SPIELBERG that make me less enthusiastic than I would usually be about a project like this.

I just hope that the mental illness aspects to both Abe and Mary are handled with care by Kushner's script. No way either can be hidden under the rug since the health of their children were a major factor. I do have faith with Kushner doing that justice than with most screenwriters.

Also cool to see Lee Pace and Adam Driver with minor roles.

It's the 'Starring Daniel Day-Lewis' that gives me pause.

I do not know what's wrong with me...but I got me some kind of aversion to DDL. I never buy what he's selling.

Liam Neeson was connected to this project for years and I am not sure what happened. Not like he aged out of the role and a return to a role that is not some schlocky action film would be good for him.

I've been a fan of Daniel Day Lewis since My Beautiful Laundrette and The Unbearable Lightness of Being. I don't think he's right for every part he's played, but he doesn't bother me.
