I just hope that they make the "adult character" plot line more interesting in this movie than the tv movie. I LOVED when they focused on the kids but when they became adults it just got boring.

Well this is disappointing news. Cary Fukunaga has left the project due to budget concerns.

Bummer! I was intrigued by the potential casting of Will Poulter and was totally ready to be scared by this all over again. The TV movie scared me to no end as a kid.

But they'd been having issues with him for a while, haven't they? I don't think this is really that surprising. 

And honestly, I'm ok without a remake if this doesn't end up ever happening. The original, even though it's a TV movie is really perfect.

I don't know. This is a remake I think could be worthwhile. Especially without the constraints of network television. I was really interested to see Fukunaga's take on it.

But I'd rather them not do it all if they're not going to do it right.

Would he even be mentioned in any seriousness though?  I thought he had a phobia about clowns, so not sure if he'd want to play one. I realize he's played some heavily made-up characters, but still, never a clown.
