Straight Marriage BANNED in Oregon!

[...]we are respecting the Attorney General's request that we temporarily postpone issuing same-sex marriage licenses. Also, to maintain consistency with our oath to uphold Oregon's Constitution's anti-discrimination provisions, we must temporarily cease issuing marriage licenses to any couple, regardless of gender until there is a State determination.

This is the new civil rights movement. How great is this? Gays are prevalent in every ethnic, religious and economic group. This is how things get changed for the better. Until marriage is legal for all consenting adults, it should not be legal for any.

Oh dear God, Rene. You are smarter than that. No one chooses to be gay. The choice is to live your life as you were born or stay in the closet and pretend to be in love with someone of the opposite sex. This argument is so outdated that I almost laughed when I saw your post. You can not be serious.
PEACE.

No, she's right. At the wee age of 4, I decided that I did not want a normal life. No, I wanted to be hated and picked on and made fun of. I didn't want normal dating in high school, college, and life. No, I wanted to have to rely on gaydar and subtle hints to find someone. I knew at age 4 that I wanted to be denied equal rights in this country.

------------

But, even if it WERE a choice, like I dunno--religious beliefs maybe????????--there is no need to discriminate a group in this country.

The following assumes newyorkuniq is straight as I don't know a single gay person who would make such an ignorant statement other than those deeply repressed:

I was just trying to figure out if I understood her correctly. My question to newyorkuniq is: When did you "choose" to be straight? At what specific point did it happen? Were there other choices as well? Was there an orientation and induction into the group? Did you get a gift bag? I don't remember anyone offering the options to me. I don't remember a willful decision to become a member of this minority group. I do remember, however, when it occurred to me that I was, in fact, a member.

Does this mean you also believe that gays can "become" straight? If so, does that mean you could "become" gay? Is it as simple as choosing a pair of jeans at a department store or is it more complex like choosing which citizens should be denied equal rights?

I could say a LOT more, but I'm restraining myself at the moment. I'm really stunned by this and I am very curious to hear your thoughts about it.
