re: 'Strange' look in fashion

I can't wear flip-flops outside the house. Whenever I try walking around in them it kills my ankles after less than half a mile. Pathetic. I just wish that my choices in sandals weren't flip-flops, high heels, or giant ugly sandals. Oh, well. Hooray for sneakers.

re: 'Strange' look in fashion

I have flip flops that have almost "orthotic" soles. They're so comfy and they keep that ankle pain at bay! Don't worry - I don't wear them to the theater.

I love this thread!

Leg warmers have to be stupidest trend since... well, since they were in style the first time. What I really hate, though, is the girls who have nast crusty curls, like they soaked their head in gel. It's all stiff and skanky looking. I also can't stand girls who wear the wrond shade of foundation and they cake it on until it looks orange. And girls who wear jeans two sizes too small and their fat hangs over the sides... ick.

I like flip-flops during the summer. Easy to slip on and off. And the shirtdress/jeans look is cute on some people.

"Now that is just a dumb stereotype. I agree some of these fashions look awful...some can pull them off. Some girls can look extremely hot in the 'punk' look."

It's not a stereotype. It is a generalization. I was speaking generally, not specifically. And people who do follow the worst fashion trends usually do so because they think it looks cool on the models hired by the designers for ads and for the stores that stock their designs. And these fashion trends are more visible on MTV than any other network cable or otherwise. Trendy fashion designers know their target demographics rather well.

You must watch a LOT of MTV to know so much about it, Matt.

I can't wear flip-flops. That little thingy between the toes hurts and drives me crazy. I have some really comfy brown leather slides. I wore them to work today!

re: 'Strange' look in fashion

In all honesty, I don't think flip flops make anyone's feet look nice. Personally, I won't wear them just because I don't like them, but my cousin wears them every single day, even in the dead of winter. I really can't understand it, that would kill my feet (and because of that, my knees and back) in about 5 minutes.
And hang on, when did you win the discus?

re: 'Strange' look in fashion

I like flip-flops, but only in the summer. I have a white pair, and they dirty easily, so I have to clean them a lot. And I only wear them if they go with the outfit.

Anyone ever hear of those Chinese slippers, or whatever they are called? They have the little sequined flowers on the mesh. I have a pink and blue pair. They are really comfortable!

re: 'Strange' look in fashion

My feet look fabulous in them! :)
I am actually very picky in choosing them, since I buy them for comfort reasons. I have come across many, many horrible pairs, I just don't own them.
& wearing them in winter is just crazy talk. My loyalty to my flip-flops only goes so far...
It's hot and it's monotonous. I want my glasses.

re: 'Strange' look in fashion

I like flip flops. They're comfortable (but only if you don't get ones that hurt).

There are some pretty strange fashions. One that a lot of people in my town do is the guys wearing basketball shorts with a football jersey and baseball socks (pulled all the way up) with soccer cleats. It looks so bad!

Or, they just wear short shorts with the baseball socks...very strange.

that's right, emonkeygirl!

I got me a gorgeous pair of feet. They're well shaped, clean with well-manicured toes.

I will show them off to EVERYONE!

Woohoo!
On a related shoe note, I do not approve of socks with sandals. It just looks odd.

Socks with sandals is and always has been WRONG.

re: 'Strange' look in fashion

I saw the most hideous outfit in Kohl's. It was a basketball jersey top attached to jean shorts for bottoms - like overalls, except the top was different. It was an outfit for girls (juniors section). No wonder it was "cheapo" on the sale rack.

A lot of people in my school wear those Adidas sandals with socks.

re: 'Strange' look in fashion

Oh yes I have seen those Chinese slippers absolutely every single place I go. No matter what the outfit or the occasion someone is wearing them. I keep hearing from everyone how comfortable they are, and I'm sure that's true but I'm getting tired of every other person I see wearing them.
And hang on, when did you win the discus?

re: 'Strange' look in fashion

I have a dislike for the Chinese slippers, only for the reason that everyone, and I mean everyone I know has a pair and wears them. It gets tiring after a while, just looking at them. Over and over. re: 'Strange' look in fashion

And I can't run in flip-flops so I don't wear them.

re: 'Strange' look in fashion

Here here to whoever said leg warmers!! I HATE thosee! Abercrombie=my favorite store, but some of the stuff in there(ponchos, leg warmers, little half sweaters that tie in the middle) I wouldn't touch.

And Uggs... so out of style now. And Uggs with Mini Skirts was never in style to begin with.

The Louis Vuitton Murkami bag is annoying too. Everyone and their mother has a fake one where I live, and pisses me off. Unless its good fake, but the bad fake ones are just terrible.
What is Broadway? A street? Some say it's a street. Some say it is the best street in the world. Others think its terrible. That's the beauty of it, it's terribly beautiful. Some hate it and don't know why. Others love it and don't know why. That's what makes it so wonderful, it's a mystery.

Those stupid truck stop caps. Who in the world thought those looked "cool"? They used to cost about $3.00 and were popularly worn flat-brimmed among trailer parks. Now kids are paying $25 or more to try and look like trailer trash. Why?

*high fives Plum*

Being uncool is fun. And you won't look back on your highschool pictures and go, "What the HELL?!" Well, we probably will anyway, but if you stick with jeans and tshirts, it's harder to go wrong.

re: 'Strange' look in fashion

I must say, that I went to Catholic school from K-12 where we had uniforms and thus was not a part of all the trends and things, once I hit college though and I started to see how these people dressed...I was really shocked. It's a lot different when you only wear your own clothes on Saturdays/Sundays/Summers than it is to wear them everyday. I still look at people and think "How can *insert style* be in style?!"

re: 'Strange' look in fashion

It's funny to see the variations of Louis Vuitton bags. One time I went to the mall, I looked at one of those carts and a guy was selling handbags. One of them had designs on it similar to the Louis Vuitton design, except there were no initials. And there was a spinoff of the Dooney and Bourke bags, which had the B&B on it instead of D&B. You can't imagine how many people I see with a Coach bag or a fake Louis...

I went to the Foxwoods Casino recently and these two women - I think mother/daughter- were at a store which sold Coach items. I noticed when they were paying for their stuff, they had a few purses and one of those bucket hats...had to be about $1000 worth of stuff. People are crazy sometimes. I admit, I have 2 fake Louies and a real Dooney and Bourke (outlet store, not the multicolored one), but I would never buy $1000 worth of bags at once.

re: 'Strange' look in fashion

Most of the bags and stuff sold in casinos are fake bags unless they're from the Coach store, or any of the other company stores themselves. At the Stratosphere in Las Vegas, I saw so many "LY" bags at the stores. And they were selling them for about $80. For a fake, I wouldn't pay that much.

re: 'Strange' look in fashion

When I went to Europe back in July, it made me sick to see fake Louis Vuitton bags EVERYWHERE!!!!! I was at a restaurant, and I noted that at least one person every 3 tables had a LV bag. And they were all horrible fakes!! Everywhere on the streets there were guys selling really bad fake LVs. Ick.

I don't like the gelly bracelets and the spiked bracelets. I think they're ugly.
