"Columbia is cooking up "Julie & Julia," starring Streep as the famous chef and Amy Adams as a mastercook wannabe."
Is it a new rule that they have to give Streep first crack at every over-40 role? I think there are other actresses that could have done the role just as well.
How about giving the role to Cherry Jones?

Posted: 11/1/07 at 10:10amMaybe they gave it to Streep because she's a master of accents and affectations. I think it will be hard to do the Julia Child way of speaking without sounding like a cartoon version. I think Meryl would be perfect.

Meryl is too pretty and too SHORT. Ms. Child was about 6 feet tall.

Posted: 11/1/07 at 10:19pmI can't quite see Streep in this role. She is a marvelous actress but doesn't seem the right type. Mario is too over the the top even for Julia Child. Judy Kaye maybe.
