I went into Subway tonight and ordered an Italian BMT, and when I went to pay, it was $7.34! I thought there was some problem and I asked the cashier, "No more 5 dollar subs?" and he said no.
I did notice a piece of paper that said they were taking away "Sub of the Day" and making "Everyday Specials" instead--for 5 dollars. I didn't notice which sandwiches were on the list, but 7.34 is too much for a sandwich, I think. Just kind of caught me off guard. Sad. I guess they weren't kidding when they said, "Limited time offer!" on the 5 dollar footlongs special.

I just saw a commercial earlier today saying they were making 8 subs 5 bucks as part of an everyday value menu type thing.
ETA the only thing i can find on Swbways website is a presslease from May about them make an everyday value menu with 8 subs; Meatball Marinara, Cold Cut Combo, Spicy Italian, Veggie Delite®, Black Forest Ham, Oven Roasted Chicken Breast, a BLT (bacon, lettuce, tomato), and Tuna

Yeah, I just saw an add for the $5 footlong on TV like two hours ago! I remember because it led to a far-too-long conversation on the subject. This can't be over, can it?
And I don't know about your Subway, but the BMT was never available for $5 at any of the Subways I go to (mostly UWS and LES area). It's only on eight specific sandwiches, and the BMT isn't one of them. I know because I usually prefer the Italian BMT, but I have downgraded to the Spicy Italian since the $5 footlongs started.

Posted: 8/9/08 at 12:39amThey have the $5 subs, but only for a couple of sandwiches.

Haha, you beat me to it, Chance.
Glad to hear the meatball marinara sandwich is still 5 dollars. Atleast one of my sandwiches is still 5 dollars!

Posted: 8/9/08 at 5:35pmAs long as I can still get my grilled chicken breast, lettuce, cucumber, green pepper, and black pepper sub for $5.

Parks doesn't like in a stereotypical Texas town, though.
Let's just say it's somewhere inside Dallas.
(I just realized I'm not supposed to know this.)

#13re: Subway, where did 5 dollar footlongs go?!?!
Posted: 8/9/08 at 6:17pmSince most Subways are franchises, they don't have to participate if the owner doesn't want to.

Many of the stores suck.
But the ones that do participate advertise like crazy with posters and banners everywhere. And they have stickers on the menu board indicating which are five dollars, so there are no surprises when you have to pay.

They still have $5 footlongs here in CT. I drive past the Subway in my neighborhood on my way to work every day. I don't eat at Subway because the ones by me are scary and just BEGGING for bacteria to be growing on everything, but I do know they were changing it to just be a featured selection for 5 bucks.
As for taking your 5 bucks to a deli.... well you can, but (here at least) you'll need more than that to get yourself a sandwich. Forget it if you want something to drink too! Ten bucks.
And my co-workers wonder why I bring my lunch to work! lol
