i am in the middle of the Da Vinci Code, which i can't put down. very good book.
Also just finished Making it on Broadway:Actor's tales of climbing to the top which i LOVED. creates a bit of a bleak outlook but in the end it's best to know the truth about things

Just finished the following Spring books in order to make way for my summer reading:

Seventeen from Seventeen - An Anthology of Short Stories

The Girl Who Fell Down (Lisa Jo Sagolla) - A Biography of Joan McCracken (GREAT!)

Summer in Sodom (Edwin Fey) - "Ian Raymond wanted Ted Randall more than he had ever desired anyone - and he would use every device of desire and pain to get him"!

Sam (Lonnie Coleman) - "A frank novel of life and loves in a strange twighlight world".

Whisper His Sin (Vin Paker) - "How a strange and twighlight love lighted the way to frenzied murder".

Maybe - Tomorrow (Jay Little) - "A searing, shoking novel of two men and a love that dares not speak it's name"!

Rough Trade (Lou Rand) - The Strangest, Most Unconvential Relationship Two Men Ever Shared"!

I have to read Jane Eyre. I heard it was really bad. Did anyone read it, or should I use sparknotes?

Jane Eyre is amazing!! Well... if you like the classics... which I do, so it was good to me lol

Read it about a year or two ago... ok, listened to it on tape, but it was still just as good lol

I am this crazy reader... I am actually reading about 25 books right now, because I cannot keep track of only one book... it is just too boring for me.... but at the moment I have four books sitting in front of me...
"Wicked" - I started it in sixth or seventh grade because my sister read it in college, but some of the subject matter was a little beyond me because I am a little naive lol
"The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" - It is cute, my sister got it for me for my birthday, so I am taking a crack at it
"Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister" - I love Gregory Maguire, what can I say? lol
"Les Miserables" - Wanted the whole story... gotta love France during the French Revolution lol

Okay, well, now I'm a little more excited about reading "Holes."

But how about "Clan of the Cave Bear?" When the name was announced, there was a loud groan from everyone in the room--except me, because I'd never heard of it before. Anyone read it?

Well right now I'm reading "Ball of Fire", a biography of Lucille Ball. And after that a book about the making of "A Star Is Born", the Judy Garland version. Does my reading sound gay lol?

You should definitely be excited about reading Holes! It's a really great book, especially the structure (three different stories from totally different periods in time intertwining). And I'll tell you how COAUS is.

Has John Grisham written any new books lately. I've been out of the loop since I quit working at the library. You would think I would have read more at college, but I just didn't really have the time.

Read? During college? not possible! At least I know during the semester I never have time to read anything. Although I read The DaVinci Code and No Touch Monkey (by Ayun Halliday) since the semester ended.

To start, "The Good People of New York." I really like Thisbe Nissen. I haven't decided what else. I rarely read during the school year b/c I'll be up all night, and would not be a very happy teacher in the morning, so I'll decide more in the next couple weeks.

I heard from my friends that Jane Eyre was bad...but I'll take all your opinions on it instead. I'll start reading it now- since a bunch of you liked it.

John Grisham came out with "The Last Juror" back in March or April. It was really good! I don't think he's had anything new since then.

I have my books and my poetry to protect me...

JANE EYRE is a wonderful book. To resort to the Spark Notes is to sit down to a steak dinner--only to find the mashed potatoes, mushrooms and gravy are missing. Charlotte Bronte's use of language is exquisite.

I'm presently reading BALL FOUR by Jim Bouton. It's filled with plenty of interesting baseball anecdotes.

1968 by Mark Kurlansky. Okay, so I'm cheating a little and listening to an unabridged audiobook. The trouble is that I keep falling asleep, and its going to be 1970 before I've actually heard the entire 16 plus hours. It seemed like such a good idea.

brdwaybaby17- What is Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister about? It sounds farmilliar... And I didn't like the Sisterhood stuff. I reccomend Chris Crutcher books to all. Adults and teens alike should enjoy his stuff.

And I'm currently looking for vacation books. Any suggestions? I have about 24 hours worth of driving, 15 beach hours, and various other blocks where I will have very little to do other than read.
