Anne Hathaway should play Mary on Broadway now. No question. If Disney would let her that is. If they're not too insulted.

Well... at least in the UK they have universal health care.

I think my favorite part was Anne Hathaway's look when Bert says "it must be Mary Poppins' cooking," it's hilarious. She had Julie Andrews' character down, my favorite Hathaway sketch of the evening.

I hope Julie Andrews saw this. I bet she'd love it.

I agree, Besty. In fact, there might have been jokes of this nature when she filmed the original re: Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious

I like Ms. Hathaway more and more each day. I've always liked her work, but it was the interviews and commentary on BECOMING JANE AUSTIN that made me really start to love her.

This will convince you that in a film version of Wicked, she could easily be Elphaba.

...and she's a movie star.

And she can "carry a movie," as they say.

And she's already on the short list for a Best Actress nomination this year (Rachel Getting Married).

re: Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious

That was amazing and hilarious!!!
I'm sure Julie Andrews would have been proud!

And that voice! Oh my word, I didn't know Anne Hathaway was such a good singer!
You know what? I say, if they are still planning on remaking My Fair Lady, Anne Hathaway should play Eliza!!!

I loved it. I thought it was the funniest thing next to the debate sketch.

Anne's voice is very good. I would like her to sing more. She would be a great Eliza.

Believe it or not, Anne Hathaway was cast as Christine in the film version of Phantom. But, she had to back out because Princess Diaries II was filming at the same time and she was contracted to that.

Backed out? No. Lost out.

She was heartbroken when she didn't get it, too. She screen tested a few times for it, and it was between her and... what's her name? Funny, I can't remember the name of the girl who played Christine in Phantom.

But I remember the name Anne Hathaway. It didn't hurt her career in the least, losing out. In fact, it might have helped save her from a dreadful, bloated film.

Emmy Rossum?

Adore Anne Hathaway, but, Emmy Rossum earned a Golden Globe nomination with her performance in "Phantom"... I do remember her performance.

(But am sure I would have loved seeing Anne Hathaway in it, as well)

re: Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious

I'm being a little snotty about it, Addy. I didn't care for Emmy's performance... actually (specifically) I didn't care for her singing. It was terrible for a supposed opera star in the making. She sounded like a mouse with a cold.

re: Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious

I remember thinking that there were SO many people they could have gone with for "Phantom". It was quite a disappointment, Besty. I agree.

Anne Hathaway has shown great range, and I look forward to watching her career move forward! She has that special 'something'!

Try to catch some of her commentary on special features. There's a brain behind that gorgeous facade.

I remember Keira Knightley was also up for Christine. I would really love to see all the screentests for the potential Christines.
Oh, and I almost forgot to mention...I'm the good cop, he's the bad cop.
