Superman's bulge to be digitally reduced in new movie

Right...but to get a little geeky here, the Human Torch

A) was never in the X-Men, but in the Fantastic Four.
B) doesn't need a lighter to make fire, like "John" and Pyro do

It's pretty clear the "John" in the first movie and "John" in the second movie are the same person. Same powers, same rivalry with Iceman...

*goes to hide in dorky shame*

Suzanne: I never use catalogs. I'd rather go in the store and see all the salespeople groveling and sucking up to you. Julia: Pardon me, I never knew they were so solicitous at the K-Mart.

Thanks for that, Plum. I am reading this entire thread right now playing catch up and the first thing that crossed my mind was, "That's not the Human Torch in the X-Men. If it's meant to be anyone in that first film, it's Pyro."
I, for one, just hate how they turned Iceman into a teenager instead of one of the original X-Men. And Rogue was NEVER that young in the X-Men, but they clearly made her place in the team that of Shadowcat's.
I will wow you all with my geekdom. Beware.

Hee. See, I'm movies first, comics second, so screwing around with the characters like that is okay by me. Besides, comic book Rogue is too powerful for the movies. She's like Superman with a D-cup.

oh, no, no. In fact, Sabretooth consistently kicked her butt, all the time. Colossus could easily handle her, too, and I hear he's in this film. In fact, when they made her stronger (by having her absorb Ms. Marvel's powers permanently), she was sort of psychologically hobbled in many ways by the fact that Marvel's thoughts would sometimes intersect with hers. So she was very insecure and always covered up neck down in fear of touching even an enemy unneccessarily.

Yeah, but doing the whole multiple personality thing is like introducing the Summers family tree into the films. You just don't want to go there. Ever. I liked the movies' basic attitude of "if these super-people were plopped down in our world, what would happen", which made things only unlikely as opposed to wildly improbable. So no time travel, no astral plane, no aliens, no alternate timelines, no magic...you get the idea. :)

I hated to ruin a good penis discussion, yes, but geekdom, you see...

PLum, I agree, it's very effective. But, as the end of x2 would suggest, we're heading there even though they created the Phoenix out of an entirely different method. I can't imagine they would so completely futz with that character as to make her just Jean Grey on crack.

Pheonix was originally supposed to be Jean Grey on crack. Screw this "space thingy posession" or whatever it was; the originaly idea was better. Take away Jean's control and conscience, and she gets a whole lot stronger (and scarier.)

Luckily, Superman feels no pain since the drag coefficient would generate a fair amount of heat...
