The recent exodus of nearly Biblical proportions got me thinking.

It heartens me to see so many of the refugees from Broadway.com are still alike and kicking...and sometimes in the teeth!

Let's here it for the real originals of this board. Folks like Namo, etoile, iflit, jrb, master, pop, sheekala, corine, dolly and others!

If I'm missing anyone, please let me know!

Oh, and if you weren't a part of broadway.com but joined in 2003, you are automatically grandfathered into the group of the 'originators'.

Sock puppets and dilettantes come and go. But we are survivors!

Yay for us!

Yay for us indeed. But I wasn't ALWAYS known as Popcultureboy.....

Sheekala. I wonder whatever happened to Sheekala, that scary little devil. I hear he's hosting some Miss Teen Pregnancy pageant in Tempe next weekend. re: Survival of the Fittest

That's our sheekala.

Ya know, DGrant. On your one year anniversary, the committee will review your posting history, look for any obvious meltdowns or mental instability* and, good standing permitted, you will be made an honorary 'Scopes Monkey'.

*This clause will naturally weed out about 97% of posters here. We're sorry, but that's the way it works!

Wait... if mental instability is cause for exclusion, who will lead this august body? who will remain? I think that in the end, it may be DGrant sitting here alone!

You're just not prolific enough, rlb. It's your own fault.

Oh, my sexy, handsome, wonderful rlb!!! You, too, are a BWW Scopes Monkey!!

And a hot one at that.

Christopher...please note the word 'obvious' in my post. If you come off as completely batsh*t crazy on a message board, we can't very well have you be a monkey!

Remember, the fittest thinly veil their insanity!

i thought we were calling it "the commission" as an homage to lansky and luciano?

either way, who woulda thunk that joining a board to get the scoop on what folks were saying about a specific show would have lasted this long and brought so much joy.

In deference to my Republican colleague, the original BWW Scopes Monkey board will now be referred to as 'The Commission'.

And rlb, I just noticed that you STILL are not a Broadway legend. Bitch, your membership is in danger! Get to posting. You'll go from a Betty Buckley to and Angie Lansbury in no time!

Indeed, papa, indeed. To think I was a young man looking for Kerry Butler pictures and I stumbled upon Mr. Diamond's fantastic interview.

Eegads, you're right, Calvinista nee popcultureboy -- I'm definitely not prolific enough. I must decide what to do to remedy that -- but I can't bring myself to post reams and reams about WICKED, Idina Menzel, or what shows I did in high school....Maybe, robbiej, if I step up my posting(s), I'll make Legend. God, I want to hang with the popular crowd....

Seriously, it says something about the board as well as the people in question that it's had members stay this long. Online communities can be incredibly ephemeral, so it's nice to see one that lasts.

Sheekala seconds that papa, I was just sent the sweetest postcard from him detailing his needle point collection tour, he was so happy to see the photo coverage of Harold and Maude the Musical on the main page ,until he found out that Mackenzie Phillips was NOT playing Harold, I told him honest mistake.

One of the rules of the Commission is never to use the word 'popular'.

It invites the unstable to pine for Ms. Chenoweth.

We can't have that, now can we? Perhaps all that show-that-shall-not-be-named furor now that the original green bean has left for greener pastures.

Silly man. It will never go away. Just wait till it closes and the rights to perform it in high schools are released!

You're now less than six months away from your Commission review, Rath!

Do you really want to jeopardize your standing?
