re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: Sutton needs your help!

I'm sorry but this has to be one of the most pointless and just plain stupid subjects I have ever seen on this board.
Everyone is always writing that we are all entitled to our opinions, but this really seems closer to being judgemental than a mere opinion. Who cares what someone looks like if they are just going out?

I saw someone comment about how she looked in the Snoopy pictures...not everyone always looks perfect but you know. And she had been working so much on the show. You'd look a little tired too. Plus coming to a conclusion based on seeing a couple photos..what IS that? Do you always take the perfect picture?

I'm sorry but, respectivly, I think the whole "Cosmo makeover" comment is awful. When I saw Sutton at the after party, my friend too a few pictures and I actually just pulled up a one of them and she looked wonderful.

"Perhaps she is getting into character for an appearance on the new show "Queer Eye for the Straight Girl"."

I think the only "help" Sutton needs is to try to stay away from people who are so shallow they feel the need to jump on someone just because they don't look 100% all of the time. Someone posted about how sometimes it's just someone's style to just in jeans and such. That's very true, after all, actors are only human. Another example is Megan Mullally, if you've ever met her it's clear that she definitely feels more compotable in casual clothes.
I'm not meaning to come across as..,anything bad. It just comes across as being judgemental and really, are you so perfect that you feel you can judge other people? It's clear she has a good heart. So....makeup or not, that doesn't really go away.

I think Sutton is absolutely perfect. I don't know, but I think if she were more glamerous she would just be less accessible. She's so naturally beautiful, and if she's happy and comfortable-good for her.

The only thing I'll say about Sutton's appearance is that her eyebrows are just a tad too sculpted. She looks constantly surprised.

We all judge people on how they look. You can say you don't, but then I'd have to call you a liar.

Oh Master, don't you get it? That post-coital look is THE look for 2004....tousled hair, smeared lipstick, flushed skin, slightly breathless demeanour. It's all the rage and Sutton is on the cutting edge, on the TIP!

By the way, what is your icon? Is that John Wayne or Rod Taylor with soap in his eyes?

I have met Sutton a few times and she is a nice girl.
She is a natural beauty, she raises money for worthy causes and she is sweet.
Many of you are jealous of her. She has a great voice.
She also won a Drama Desk Award and a Tony Award.
I don't think she needs help.

"I've met Sutton. I think shes pretty, just saying she could use a little makeup every now and then.."

First, you know what? The next time Sutton is getting ready to go out or something, I'm SURE she'll take that comment into consideration. I mean she would have to do so, correct? After all, I'm sure a shallow comment or two from people on a message board might just ruin her career.

And "every now and then?", you must know her pretty well, right? I mean to assume if she doesn't happen to have makeup on once or twice would be daft. So since you seem to know her and all, maybe you should share with her some of your brilliant cosmetic suggestions

Second, we could all use a little makeup now and then. Sometimes you put it on, sometimes you don't. Really, who cares?

"Well she's got star power onstage, but not off."

Hey, whatever helps you sleep at night. And is that a personal opinion or did you actually hear it from a source? If you have, the information is not exactly reliable.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that to earn power offstage, you must first earn it onstage. You have to be able to prove yourself through her talent and the respect of your peers and the audience. It's been shown that her peers respect her, and she seems to have gained that very quickly.

Maybe some of you are forgetting that TMM was a role in which first she portrayed the lead character in an original Broadway cast. She hasn't even done a second show yet! I remember around 2 years ago, when I went to the Actors' Fund benefit of Funny Girl....as you may know there were several great actresses who also had the lead role of Fanny that night. And not only did the audience go nuts the moment she made her entrance, but after she performed her designated song the audience went CRAZY for a good minute and a half when she finished. This was not long after she began performing in TMM. That time and every time I have seen her since then, the audience loves her.

I definitely know she has power onstage but, if you think about it...the fact that the team working on Little Women pushed back their schedule because they wanted Sutton to play Jo. Not many performers do that.

You have to remember, if audience members who are first hear about her and her voice through her performance at benefits and if they like what they see....they may want to see more of a particular performer.

So, exactly who do you think BUYS tickets to shows? The audience, of course. Good ticket sales lead to more money for the show and the producers. Producers like money. A lot. All of that makes an actress more bankable when it comes to casting.

Producers and such WANT people to see their show. So if they can cast a performer who is already or becoming "a name", do not think for one second that they won't do so.

So whatever you think, personally, that's fine, it's your opinion. For those of you who start making personal comments...take a good look in the mirror (eyebrows and all). Who the hell is so perfect that they feel it's their duty to judge someone else? Is this what this board has become? A place to verbal bash performers instead of celebrating them?

But it's becoming more clear that she's going to be around for awhile and if you plan to comment on every single thing she does or says or wears this message board is going to be quite boring. Plus it's plain sad that some people feel the need to belittle others. If you dislike her so much, stop posting about her! It's a waste of time to write about someone you don't know

re:

Sutton works very very hard. And it shows. She worked her ass off in MILLIE, and is a well-liked colleague and seems to be level headed and pretty together - if still in need of a lipstick every so often! :)

I don't dislike her - she seems like a good egg.

But I gotta admit, for me she just doesn't have that "something extra" that seperates a solid hardworking pro to larger-than life Broadway star.

re: re:

Bronte, I'm glad you have nothing better to do then **** yourself over a message board thread. I really don't have the time to write back a ninty paragraph response to you, but maybe you should read my first post again to fully comprehend. I said "I've met Sutton". Now how out of that do you come up with the response "you must know her pretty well than right" Everyone is entitled to an opinion dearie. Now I shall close by quoting one of your oh so witty comments.

re: re:

Just to throw in my two cents...

I think Sutton is lovely. Who CARES if she doesn't wear any make up? As a female myself, I think she has a lot of guts to go out in public, hair worn straight and no makeup and just roll with the look. Wearing make-up 24-7 is actually very bad for your skin, so it's good for it to take a breather quite often. I just think it's so stupid that people are reduced to talking about how crappy Sutton looks. WHO CARES? She is INSANELY talented. There's just something special about her. In a sense, she reminds me of Mary Martin. Mary wasn't exactly drop-dead gorgeous, but she was FEROCIOUSLY talented. Sutton, in her own right, is ridiculously talented. So... three cheers for Sutton, and I wish that the rest of the world could find it in their hearts not to be vain the way Sutton has.

Personally, from a professional standpoint, it wouldn't kill her to put a little more effort into her appearance when doing something publicity-wise.
