I'm really looking forward to "Singing" - it is truly the best movie musical.
As for Andy Hardy - to quote the musical "Pal Joey" :
"I don't care for either Mickey; Mouse and Rooney make me sicky!"
I just want to bit#ch slap him. Stop Grinning!
Judy is glorious though. Why should we believe anyone that lovely would be interested in that gnome. Its like looking at Dennis Kucinich and his wife.

I LOVE that movie! I was flipping channels and I caught it halfway through, but I've seen it so many times, it didn't matter!
"Good Mornin'" is one of my most favorite songs, too!
And I love the girl in green's shoes...mmm!
L: This thing weighs a ton! Anybody who'd wear one of these is a dope.
D: They all used to wear them, Lena.
L: Then everybody was a dope!
This is my favorite number in THE BANDWAGON!
Cyd's dancing is fabulous in this movie.
Was she ever bad, Glebb?
Just finished watching "The Happy Time." A charming movie. Bobby Driscoll was so engaging in this with Charles Boyer as his father, but it made me sad to think about Bobby's early (tragic) demise. He was 15 years old in this film, and lived only 16 more. This was made the year before he did the voice of Peter Pan for Disney.
*sigh*
Cturtle, "...a shimmering, glowing star in the cinema firmament!"
I just watched THE HAPPY TIME too, and I loved it. The conversations between father and son were most touching, and everyone was just so wonderful in the film.
When I was a kid, the Broadway musical adaptation was a family favorite, and I had always wanted to see the original movie. I'm so glad I finally have...nearly 40 years later! (Sad to think of Robert Goulet, too.)
Whatya think I am? Dumb or something?
Never bad Miss P.
Is Bobby Driscoll also the one who breaks his arm in a Judy/Mickey movie Best 12?
Hi C!
That was Larry Nunn, Glebby... as Willie in "Strike Up the Band."
Driscoll was only 3 when that movie was made. He was the first "live" actor signed to a contract by Walt Disney. He was the kid in Song of the South, So Dear To My Heart and Treasure Island. In 1949, Disney loaned him out for a movie called "The Window." Driscoll won a special juvenile Oscar for his work in that film.
Mickey and Judy are on right now, Glebby, in "Life Begins for Andy Hardy." They're showing a marathon of all the Hardy movies today. They just finished "Andy Hardy's Private Secretary" with Kathryn Grayson and Todd Karns (who played Jimmy Stewart's brother in It's A Wonderful Life). Todd was such a cutie! I had a big crush on him when I was younger. He was the son of a very famous character actor Roscoe Karns (It Happened One Night, His Girl Friday).
EDIT: I love looking things up on the Internet! You find out the strangest things. Larry Nunn, who played Willie in "Strike Up the Band" (the kid with the bad arm) committed suicide in the '70s. His daughter Terri Nunn was an actress and the lead singer for the '80s band Berlin! The truth is stranger than fiction sometimes. You couldn't make this sh*t up!
I love Andy Hardy movies Best12.
I also adore every Judy/Mickey movie.
I'll know them better now that the box set is out.
(Just need to buy it)
Too bad I've got to teach class and that we have two perfs of Nutcracker today.
Turning to TCM right now. Natalie and David (sitting in for Matt and Meredith) have used the word "amazing" ten too many times in the last five mins.
Hope you have "amazing" performances today, Glebby!
P.S. --- I just added some weird stuff in my last post about little Willie from Strike Up the Band. Wow. I'd rather look that up than watch the "amazing" Natalie and David.
James and Julie pre-united.
