THE GOLDEN GIRLS - SEASON ONE WILL BE ON DVD NOVEMBER 23RD!!!!!!!!! — Page 2

In a lot of Sophia's stories the dates don't match up with her age. One date she likes to use is 1912. When the show premiered she claimed she was 80 years old. It was 1985. That's a 73 year difference. Sophia would have been about 7 years old and in most of her stories she is having sex....

Also, the lania was always to the right of the door but in the first episode that's where Blanche's bedroom is. In later episodes her bedroom is at the end of the hall with everyone else's.

Priest, George Hern guest stared in an episode where he played the director of a school production of "Henny Penny" that Dorothy was producing. He ended up siging the role of the big bad wolf, and you haven't seen this???? shame on you.

I've been trying to think of other musical theatre references as well. A few I remember include Sophia mentioning how she was left out of going to see EVITA in the episode where they all meet Burt Reynolds. In the episode with George Hearn Dorothy mentions being in a high school production of SHOW BOAT, and then performs a bit of 'Old Man River'. During the mother/daughter beauty pageant at shady pines one of the contestants was supposed to perform a medley from THE FANTASTICKS. Dorothy says she started with 'Try to Remember' and couldn't. And of course, both Blanch and Rose were in community theatre productions of THE SOUND OF MUSIC and CATS!!! (Since the rights for CATS weren't released until recently that theatre's production of CATS was illegal.) and Rose played a hen in a The St. Olaf Masquers production of HAMLET. Were there any more??? lol.

Actually, I do have it on tape. But, you may be able to catch it on TV at any given time. Lifetime plays about 8 episodes a day!!!

Oh my gosh! I am so happy that I have company in my current obsessions. I am totally adicted to both shows this summer - know I should be sending out resumes but I spend the mornings glued to the tv. Very happy to hear the Nanny will be out of DVD soon. I adore the Broadway references and love the fact that Maxwell passed on both 'Hair' and 'Cats'.

Priest - Bea Arthur IS scary. But one talented old f*ck.

---

I always thought Estelle Getty was supremely untalented and never understood how she got to be in that show with the other three. Flame away, boys.

---

Controversial, Rathnait. Unless you're just taking us gullible boys for a ride again.

---

Very daring. I have a suspiscion you will be in a minority of one on this point.

---

Matt - will you marry me anyway?

---

I thought of two more theatre references. In the episode where Blanch finds out her brother is gay Sophia says she knew because she heard him singing in the shower and he's the only man she knows who memorized all the words to "Send in the Clowns".

Also in another episode Blanch meets a man while auditioning for the role of Kate in "The Taming of the Shrew".

I don't know why I find this so exciting... I'm lame. lol.

I like the golden girls too, but seriously whats the deal with gay men being obsessed with the Golden Girls? Can anyone explain this to me? I find it absolutely baffling!

THIS JUST IN - The Golden Girls will include 25 episodes on 3 discs, including the pilot and a "fashion" commentary by Joan and Melissa Rivers.

a fashion commentary by Joan and Melissa Rivers???

That is gonna be hysterical!
