I can't wait!!
"Smithers I'm going to donate a million dollars to the local orphanage....when pigs fly *laughs*"
(Pig flies past power plant)
"Will you be donating that check now, sir?"
"No, I'd rather not."

This is one of the very few movies I've ever been excited for!

So excited!
I hope it's better than some of the past episodes.

I can't wait for The Simpsons Movie.
Marge: "How did the pig tracks get on the ceiling"
Homer: "Spider pig, spider pig. Does whatever a spider pig does. Can he fly on a web? No he can't cause he's a pig, look out here comes the spider pig."
Also, one of the previews that is supposed to be attached to The Simpsons is The Dark Knight.

"We're the sauce on your steak, we're the cheese in your cake...we put the *boing* in Springfield." I wish it was opening this week!

I'm one of those people who have literally been waiting for nearly 20 years for this. I've been watching the Simpsons since 1990 (I started about a year after the show started) and have seen just about every episode. After all this time, I can't imagine that the movie won't be every bit as good as we expect -- the writers and producers KNOW they have this loyal fan base that has high expectations - they won't let us down, right? RIGHT?
Oh, and that Spider-pig thing - every time I see the commercial for it it makes me laugh.
Willie: "Lunchlady Doris, do you have any grease?"
Doris: "Sure"
Willie: "Then GREASE ME UP, WOMAN!"
Doris: Okey-dokey"

One of the highlight experiences of my life was sitting just a few feet from the cast and producers and Matt Groening as they read "The Cartridge Family" episode at the Just For Laughs festival in Montreal a few years ago. It was goosebump inducing. And the Q&A afterwards was equally great.
In anticipation I even bought The Official Donut of The Simpsons Movie at 7-11. I've been on something of a health food kick for the past several months and lemme tell you, it was a sweet shock to the system.

I would have loved to see that Namo. It amazes me how the cast can switch so easily from one voice to another.

If you remember The Cartridge Family episode, it's the one where Homer wants to buy a gun. ("Waiting period? Stupid gun control laws, if I had a gun I'd go in and shoot that guy right now.")
It begins with Bart and Homer watching a soccer game on TV.
Hank Azaria as the announcer does the "Goooooalllllll!" thing and makes an announcement that soccer is coming to Springfield.
Nancy Cartwright (I still can't square that Bart's voice comes out of her mouth even though I have seen it with my very own eyes): Hey dad, how come we've never gone to a soccer game.
Dan Castellana says in Homer's voice: I don't knowwwwwwwww.
And the packed audience in the huge theater went WILD. It was the most perfect Zen Simpsons moment. "I don't knowwwwwwwwwwwww."

I personally don't. 20 years of sublime creativity is more than enough to get me in the theater on opening night. (If I can get tickets).

I think 20 years of sublime creativity is a kind exaggeration. It was brilliant for so long but has been naff now for several years. ;_;

Though the past years haven't been that good, if the movie is anything like the early years (say, up to Season 10 or so) I will be seeing it on opening day.

At least it's still entertaining. Look at the soaps that have been on even longer....

Personally, I still think it's hilarious. At its worst, it's better than any other comedy series on the air. I find about two or three episodes a year to be not as great as the others. The show is immensely pleasurable.
I also find that many people who criticize the later years, gave up watching or only check in sporadically. I feel as if my dedicated viewing has more than been rewarded.

The subtlety! The layers! Comedy gold. I remember Matt Groening's "Life in Hell" comics in the San Diego Reader back in the early eighties, before they appeared on the Tracy Ullman Show. It was always the first thing I turned to.
One of my favorite moments:
Bad bees! Bad bees! OOOOWWWW! They're defending themselves somehow!
Protecting the sugar pile

Namo - I'm in 100% agreement with you on that one. I watch it EVERY week - and yeah, there are a few weak episodes each year - but come on, the show's had over FOUR HUNDRED FREAKING EPISODES - there's going to be a few weak ones in there. Hell, if HALF the episodes were "weak," you'd still have 200 great episodes which is WAY more than any other show in history can boast.
Honestly, even with the weaker ones, I've found on repeat viewings, there are usually a few funny moments here and there. No other show could maintain the same cast like The Simpsons have for this stretch of time and remain so consistantly entertaining. I second Namo - those who criticize the last few years just haven't been watching regularly.

Even if the movie sucks (Which I doubt it will), the fact that this is the first hand-drawn animated film released into theaters since (I think...) THE TRIPLETS OF BELLEVILLE is enough to get me in on opening day.

Would everyone else be in agreement that THE SIMPSONS features the greatest ensemble voice-acting work of all time?
I definitely must give praise to Julie Kavner who, somehow, still is able to speak at all after doing the Marge and ESPECIALLY the Bouvier voices for over twenty years.

Definitley agree with that Cruel. Harry Shearer amazes me.

I agree with that - though isn't Marge basically Kavner's voice? She doesn't do a whole lot to alter it.
Azaria, Catalenetta (not sure on the spelling), and Shearer are amazing -- combined they do something like 50 odd voices -- it's really incredible.
