How is Marisha Wallace in this? She missed the opening night of Something Rotten in the Uk?

#4

LIZA! at 80! - CARNEGIE HALL

She did both.

Thanks for the very detailed report of last night's concert.  Looks fantastic.

As far as the "no shows," I'm sure they all had other commitments, and something came up.  Not unusual for things to change by the time they are announced to the night of the show.  It's not as if they just didn't show up, and nobody knew what happened to them.

That was so sweet that Lorna sang "Liza (All the Clouds'll Roll Away)"

Liza was never announced to appear in this, yet I know multiple people who bought tickets with the wrongful assumption that she would be making an appearance.

Anyway - how was the band?

Best part - 30 pieces orchestra.  They sounded great.

Worst part - directorial disorganization of the evening & some of the written "banter" for the hosts.

As I understand it, for some time, she was supposed to be there - per several performers told this by Transport Group.  Also, Transport Group initially said Liza books would be signed - and then reneged at a later date.

Nice show but preferred the staging and execution of the recent Oklahoma! concert more.

It was definitely a bummer but there was nothing weird about it.

I've learned never to underestimate or even guess about attempts at sarcasm from members of this board but unless I'm missing something or still drunk from the World Cup loss last night I see no detailed report.

I imagine some of those performers signed up because they thought she’d be there, Marisha even said she couldn’t turn down singing for Liza.

On a positive note, I’m relieved that we don’t have to stare at Chenoweths forehead for now. She seems to have embraced bangs

I wasn't being sarcastic at all.  I was referring to the posting on this thread, that went into great detail about who sang what song during Act 1 and Act 2.  That posting is now gone from this thread.  Not sure why it was removed?

Also on that same posting, the OP listed guests who were originally announced, who ultimately didn't perform at the event.  That is what I was also referring to.

Yes, it is weird that she wasn't at something like this. I hope she's doing ok healthwise.

Based on some of the performers' IG posts yesterday, it would seem the expectation even up to yesterday was that she'd at least be there. Obviously performing wasn't going to happen, but the rollout of this definitely heavily implied she would be per the above.

I was in the audience, and Liza was MIA. I think everybody expected her to show up at the end for "New York New York", but Marisha Wallace did it instead, after Liza's sister did the next-to-last song. It is really hard to understand. I am worried for Liza’s health now… 😢

PS. CoffeeBreak, thank you for your detailed summary, I just couldn't memorize who did what...

Last night, I couldn't find the signature in the books I got at the end of the event, now this explains. In all fairness, the strain of signing 100s of books would have been too much for Liza, this part is clear. As a side note, if you remove the dust cover, there is actually an embossed signature on the front hardcover! Which is very cool.

There were already controversies surrounding her using an “auto pen” to have signature stickers signed for the books when the book came out. So the organizers may feel it’s better to just not have the signatures instead of deal with another wave of internet yelling about that.

Anyone who has seen recent clips of Liza would know her getting on a flight to New York was a pipe dream, unfortunately.

Sounds like a great night, and I hope the audience thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Still, I am glad I did not go. I was in NY only last week, and briefly considered extending my stay… but no. I couldn't do that to myself again. 🙂
