I love The Simpsons and even though I think that the older stuff is better, they still have some great funny moments. One of my personal favorite moments is when the family goes to therapy and they get put in electroshock therapy and just go nuts with Dr. Marvin Monroe screaming at them. "This is not the way to get healthy"
Has anyone on here ever watched all of the old Simpsons shorts that were on the Tracey Ullman show? You know where a majority of them feature Homer saying "Let's Go out for frosty chocolate milkshakes". A good amount of them are on You Tube.
Yeah - and the animation is TERRIBLE on those! It's amazing the show got made at all with the animation looking like that!

I saw every single one of those Tracey Ullman Shows. And those clips are fabulous. Like with Maggie having the trophy stuck on his head and Homer's voice sounding like Walter Matthau.

Another cool thing about Homer's character is that he truly and utterly is a pure asshole most of the time. He's a sociopathic abusive father and yet you still root for him.
THAT is good character development.
I still love The Simpsons and I think I'm more excited for the movie than I am for Hairspray! Have you guys seen the one where they build a fort out of UPS boxes and then have a Lord of the Rings-style war with the good fellows at UPS?

It's funny too cause alot of the male characters in the early Simpsons episodes kinda look like Homer, but in the one short where the Simpsons go to a family therapist because they don't laugh anymore, the therapist really looks like Homer but alot thinner.
I just remembered one of my favorite Simpsons bits: Moe and The Lie Detector:
Eddie: Do you hold a grudge against Montgomery Burns?
Moe: No(buzzer) Alright Yes, but I didn't shoot him(bell)
Eddie: Alright you're free to go
Moe: That's great cause I got a hot date tonight(), a date(buzzer), dinner with friend(buzzer), dinner alone(buzzer), watching TV alone(buzzer). Alright, I'm going to sit at home and oggle the ladies in the Victoria's Secret catalog(buzzer)...Sear's catalog(bell dings). Now would you unhook this thing already please. I don't deserve this shabby treatment(buzzer)
This has always been one of my favorite quotes:
HOMER: I'm feelin' kinda low Apu. You got any of that beer that has candy floatin' in it, ya know, Skittlebrau?
APU: Sir, such a product does not exist. You must have dreamed it.
HOMER: Oh, well then just give me a six pack and a couple bags of Skittles.

I like how time is handled on The Simpsons. Every season, Lisa and Bart get out of school and then they go back and are in the same grade. Apu has children and they are the same age as Maggie.
One of my favorite episodes is when Lucille Ball appears as a ghost. You hear over the tv Lucy go "Waaaaaah" and then you hear Fred say, "I think you hit her pretty hard there Rick".
Good old Homer as Grandpa puts it.
"My Homer is not a communist. He may be a liar, a pig, an idiot, a communist, but he is not a porn star."

I loved A STREETCAR NAMED MARGE. "You can always depend on the kindness of strangers..."

If the movie comes across as even half as funny as the commercials make it appear to be - the film is going to be hilarious.
Every time I see the previews before a movie, I can't stop smiling. The audience goes wild.
The first time I saw spider pig, I couldn't even breathe. I love that final low notes he sings. The audience went wild.
Most of all, I wonder what the opening of the movie will be like...
