re: TN Mayor Says Obama Blocked Charlie Brown Christmas

Well this jerk must not even watch the news. They announced the President's speech at the end of last week and it was mentioned on every newscast I saw up until the speech was delivered. So that bogus story about sitting the kids in front of the TV to watch Charlie Brown really doesn't fly. He knew that speech was happening. And if he didn't, he doesn't deserve to be a mayor. JMO

I myself consider Charles Schultz' Peanuts comic strip and the various half hour cartoons to be a gold standard of quality that a comic strip artist should strive to hope to achieve! A stupid cartoon? Hardly.
A Charlie Brown Christmas is an ageless classic which I watched when it first aired and have seen it every year since.

re: TN Mayor Says Obama Blocked Charlie Brown Christmas

Let me get this straight - an elected official was griping that a half-hour animated special (that is readily available on DVD) was pre-empted because the president of the country was giving a speech announcing the updated approach to a war we're fighting? AND took the opportunity to further promote lies and propaganda?

An ELECTED OFFICIAL?!?

We really are in very interesting times.

Haha, 1) No, I don't think Wicked is the greatest musical ever... I just find fluff entertaining. 2) I am not a fan of Kristen Chenoweth and her chipmunk voice... I just like the character of Glinda. 3) I think Wicked is better than Charlie Brown. 4) How does me liking Wicked have anything to do with the comment I made? haha.

Find me ANY working newspaper cartoonist (or retired) that thinks that Peanuts is a "stupid cartoon" and I'll find you an idiot.

That said, the main reason they tied Wicked to your comment (given your avatar) is most of the people on the board view Wicked fans as complete idiots who have no taste. Thank you for proving us right.

Which further proves that this board is full of people who are full of themselves, and think they know everything. A lot of people like Wicked... at least a few of them must have a few aspects of good taste too. Is no one willing to attribute my lack of interest in Charlie Brown to the fact that I am young and therefore was very rarely exposed to that in comparison to things with better quality?

"I could see him being mad if it interrupted reruns of Green Acres."

I'd picket the White House over that.
This has been a Filmways presentation, dahling.

Dude, if you are over the age of about 7, you should know who Charlie Brown and company are. They are everywhere. Being young has nothing to do with it.

re: TN Mayor Says Obama Blocked Charlie Brown Christmas

We were discussing Charlie Brown Christmas this afternoon at work. There's a worker in our office who is not very well liked. She's the office tattler and busy-body. She'll go tell on someone for being on the internet or a personal call and then go into her office and do both herself.

Well, over the past few days she's been putting together boxes for our end of the year paperwork. All the while complaining that we're not helping her. Heaven forbid we do sales work. She put a sign on her tower that said "Do not take" and warned us all not to touch them. Once she was gone we started discussing what to do with the boxes. We ended up making a Christmas tree out of them. The plan is on Monday morning to shout "Merry Christmas (insert name here)" and sing "Hark the Herald Angels Sing"

Is no one willing to attribute my lack of interest in Charlie Brown to the fact that I am young and therefore was very rarely exposed to that in comparison to things with better quality?

Better quality? Like what?

I was confused by this because I didn't think it was supposed to get aired until this Tuesday. So, unless this guy's ABC market is so different, he has no case, not to mention it is all dumb anyway if it was supposed to be aired, but got pre-empted.

And being young has nothing to do with not being exposed to classics like "A Charlie Brown Christmas." You can watch it on ABC because they do seem to air many of the specials now. There is also such a thing called renting them.

This guy is just too stupid to hold public office! Did he really think if he posted this on Face Book it wouldn't leak out?
