OOOh, Shout! Factory should get on releasing Rags to Riches on DVD. Let's write them shall we? Mention Cop Rock while you are at it.
Conchords is great! Daisies is brilliant!
Has anyone seen television animated musical The Point by Harry Nilsson? That has a great score. His music is steeped in theater music I wish he'd done more concept centered work.
Plum: I recently removed Brave and the Bold from my dvr, but I gotta find that episode! Thanks for the heads up.
Eric: What is the name of the Cop Rock contemporary?
Plum, I assumed the Pushing Daisies musical was nixed by the network, since there weren't as many instances of people bursting into song second season as opposed to first.
In addition to Buffy and Daria, I always loved the episode of Jimmy Neutron when they perform MacBeth in Space for their school musical.
Or how about when Peter revises THE KING AND I in FAMILY GUY. LOL!
One of my favorite forgotten sitcoms, Fired Up, had a wonderful episode with a musical dream sequence featuring Sharon Lawrence performing Heat Wave. I think I have it on VHS somewhere. I really loved the first season, but the writers switched gears for the second season and the show lost its focus and drive.
I loved Sharon Lawrence and Leah Remini on FIRED UP!
And I usually HATE laugh-track sitcoms. Lawrence was unforgettable!
P
Charlie's proposal ( I can't get enough of this song )
Head of the Class also did Grease and Hair. If I recall correctly Mr. Moore was a former actor who liked to incorporate that into his teaching. I recall the Hair episode. One of the other teachers was very much against the school doing the show and was giving the students a hard time. Turns out she had lost her sun in Vietnam and it brought back memories for her.
liotte, I also recall Rags to Riches and the Elvis episode. There was another episode where one of the girls had a crush on a lifeguard.
I love both Xena musical episodes and have the entire series on DVD as well as those two CDs. Hercules never did a musical episode but did do two dance episodes and IIRC one had a musical number performed by Michael Hurst in drag.
