The average height of an American woman is 5'4", so 5'8" is indeed tall. 5'9" is minimum model height, but models also tend to look like stick insects. Using them as a measuring stick for what constitutes a normal body type is ridiculous.

You have to be 5'4" to be an Air Force pilot, so there's one small advantage of being a girl of above-average height. :P

you'd feel like you were in a sci-fi movie at one of my family reunions, then...my mom is 6'2" and my aunt is 6'3.5".

I'm 5'9... and I hate it. Every guy in my school is atleast two inches shorter than me. And then when I find a guy that's taller than me, I can't wear heels due to the fact I'll be taller than him.

I'm 5'8. I've always enjoyed being tall, even in middle school when I was generally the tallest person in my class. I generally don't worry about wearing heels, my husband is shorter than me anyway (about half an inch). Strangely my sisters and I, who are about the same height and agree that we feel the most comfortable around tall people, all have husbands or boyfriends who are shorter than we are.

I'm prolly about maybe 5'0". I love it though. everyone is taller than me, but it sucks cause if i want a pair of capris they either fit like pants or look like pants that are to short.
But I love being short!!

i like being tall, except when it comes to buying clothes. it's really hard because according to the stores, i have long legs...and a long torso - just b/c they're used to outfitting people who are like 5'5" or 5'7".

that's tough...but j.crew is good to me :)

i was staying at a hotel once and the concierge asked me if i played basketball. i was like "no..... why do you ask?" and he said "because you're just really tall!!!!"

now, 5'10" isn't super tall.....its not like i'm 6'8" or something!!

By the time I was in the third grade I was 5ft3. In order to get into the movies for children's prices, I had to bring my birth certificate with me to prove my age. My slacks were always too short for me and many people asked if I was going to dig clams or if there had been a flood. Of course now cropped pants are very fashionable. Perhaps I was a trendsetter. At the age of 48 I am 5ft9. I also have a 6ft1 brother.

Is being taller than a guy in a relationship supposted to be a huge problem? I'm just under 5'10". My first husband was a couple of inches taller than me. We looked good, but everything else pretty much sucked. My second husband...with whom I am much happier... is a little shorter than me. Who cares?

You may be right.I am 5'6" and used to be the tallest girl when I was in school-eons ago- and now there are a number of girls in my daughter's class who are 5'9" and over! Maybe it's the water(*gasp*)!

I was always the shortest person in my class. Up until the summer before 11th grade, I was 4'10 and would always get cast as the little girl parts which really pissed me off. Then I grew a miraculous 6 inches, to my now strappying 5'5. Sometimes I still feel short...

my whole family is short... i don't think there's anyone on the DiStefino side who's taller than 5'4"
