Posted: 8/4/06 at 12:00pmHmmm...it has a 71% on Rotten Tomatoes. Perhaps this could be worth seeing...

Perhaps, but in it's early days, MIAMI VICE had an impressive rating as well. I saw that **** a couple nights ago, and left in the middle of it. Garbage!
I do not like Will Ferrell, but I will see it anyway.

How can you watch a movie that is so racist against
Southern white Christian males?
#3re: Talladega Nights
Posted: 8/4/06 at 12:38pmEven more reason to see it!

Posted: 8/4/06 at 12:39pmI'm just glad that it's replaced The Ant Bully as Ted Baehr's most dangerous movie of the summer season.

Posted: 8/4/06 at 12:48pmThank God for that. I suppose they don't consider May's THE DA VINCI CODE as summer. I guess it's too obvious anyway.

Well, that clinches it. I'm buying tix ASAP!
Ted Beahr seriously thought "The Ant Bully" was dangerous? I demand an explanation.

Posted: 8/4/06 at 2:26pmI would just like to have about 1/5 of the advertising budget for this film.

Saw this last night.
Very funny.
"My head is spinning from all the gayness." - Will Ferrell
Some homophobic-ness about it, which is all resolved at the end.
The only time I've heard bad things about MIAMI VICE is from people expecting to see an action movie.

I expected it to be a style-over-substance Mann film, just like COLLATERAL and just like most of the reviews said. I expected decent performances with an organized and intelligible plot. I expected a modern day noir-esque film.
I don't like action movies. The plot makes no sense. The editing is sloppy and random. It's horrible.

Oh boy. I was already excited about seeing this tonight, and that just makes it even better. I do enjoy some good blasphemy.

Oh good!
Because Ferrell also has his way with the Baby Jesus.

Posted: 8/4/06 at 3:14pmI just feel so badly for all those poor, oppressed white Christian males. I mean really, when will those guys catch a break?

Funny, not as effortlessly funny as Anchorman though.

Posted: 8/4/06 at 4:45pmThe little red son was hilarious during that scene where they first go to Grandma's.

Posted: 8/4/06 at 4:50pmThe only reason I kind of want to see this movie is Sasha Baron Cohem (a.k.a. Ali G and Borat) as a gay French race car driver. And John C. Reilly is good in pretty much everything (although he was sorely miscast as Stanley in 'Streetcar').

It took me most the movie to realize the grandma was the woman who played the boss in 40 year old virgin, she can't be that much older than Will Ferrell...
And John c. Reilly was one of the best parts...

Posted: 8/4/06 at 5:05pmParts of it were very funny, but the overall movie was just OK. The Baby Jesus argument had this white, Jewish, Northern boy laughing his ass off....

Saw MIAMI VICE tonight. It had its moments, but overall I thought some dialogue could have been cut.
LOVED Patti singing Moby.

I stand corrected. I saw TALLADEGA this afternoon and was pleasantly surprised. There was a lot more subtle and clever humor than I thought there would be based upon the awful trailer. It's also not a true "star vehicle" in which Ferrell gets all of the best lines and gags. Every single character is seen in a hilarious light. Funniest of all is Sacha Baron Cohen who once again proves what a phenomenal actor he really is. Borat is going to be amazing.
If I have any true quibbles with it, it is that director Adam McKay has absolutely no visual style. Every shot looks flat and boring. No visual really pops off of the screen in the way that it should.
Other than that, it's probably the perfect summer comedy. In fact, I think I enjoyed it more than Anchorman.
