Cruel - for you to say THIS was the perfect summer movie when Clerks 2 was released two weeks earlier shows either a lack of taste or a bad memory or a momentary lapse of judgement (I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and hope it's choice B or C)

Clerks II was hilarious but for people who just want a balls-out comedy, you can do no better than Talladega Nights.

"Clerks II was hilarious but for people who just want a balls-out comedy, you can do no better than Talladega Nights."

Whereas CLERKS II is ball-tucked-behind-the-thighs comedy?

I think McKay was going for that real-type, documentary-esque filming.

I think the outtake at the end with Michael Clark Duncan singing was the funniest. I wonder if he could do falsetto. Anyone see him singing Ol' Man River? HAHA.

Full house tonight when I saw it. The funny thing is that the audience was made up of almost all repressed White Christian Males and they all loved it.

My audience was idiotic. All of the more clever stuff was lost on them.

All was well with my audience tonight... until there were males kissing, and then there was an almost completely collective "UGH," followed by a few people even going so far as to exit the theater.

Other than that, it got a lot of laughs. I enjoyed it quite a bit--*almost* as much as Anchorman.

As much as I am hypocritical when a new Will Ferrell movie comes out...I saw it tonight with my Dad and we both really enjoyed. So it definitely has a large target audience(college student to the retired..lol) And it is far different from ANCHORMAN, which can be good or bad depending on how you look at it. It's overall an enjoyable movie!

I went last night, as I said, with about 500 ppl in the theatre who actually laughed and cheered during the final kiss.

I saw it earlier. While I didn't enjoy it near as much as Anchorman, I thought it was alright. Pretty funny, especially in parts, but story wise, it stuck me as (very basically) Anchorman on a race track. Not in the acting or comedy, but the basic story was fairly similar. Not bad, but not great, either.

EDIT: Oh, and my audience (at least the ones right around me) were kind of homophobic. I use that term lightly, but it still applies, I think.

I saw the movie this afternoon and was pleasantly surprised at how funny it was. I had gone in with kind of low expecations because I wasn't too impressed with the trailer, but it actually turned out to be pretty good. My friend, who I had dragged to this movie and absolutly didn't want to see it, was laughing her head off during some of the funny moments.

The audience, which ranged from a few senior citizens to 10 year olds, was pretty homophobic. At the end when the two racers kiss, there was a collective "EWWW!!!!" from most of the audience that went on longer than the kiss.

I saw the movie down in GA -- no reaction from the 1/2 filled theater at all at the kiss.

A couple of big laughs in parts, but pretty dead audience. I still liked the whole Baby Jesus thing.

I thought the movie was pretty funny myself. Just saw the movie tonight. I have to say the cougar scene made me laugh the hardest. Updated On: 8/7/06 at 01:38 AM

I saw it last night. Hilarious! The biggest laughs for me were both of Molly Shannon's scenes. I can't say she steals the mvoie, but she comes pretty damn close. I love that woman. I wanna be her when I grow up.
