I just heard on the radio a commercial for Target that was voiced by Jane Lynch. Obviously she didn't get the memo.
I'll answer for you, because--astonishingly--you dropped a stink bomb and ran.
You care because you saw an opportunity to mock the gay community, as you have so often.
Sleep well.

I don't care if Target started a "Kill The Fags" campaign. There's no way I'd ever boycott them.
Goth would never register there. They don't sell buttplugs and barb wire dildos.
I still shop there. Sometimes boycotting is easier said than done. I'm sure if we knew everything about the owners of every store, we would be boycotting most of them. I boycotted Wal-Mart for a while but I I found that whenever I was in there with a friend I would end up walking out having purchased something.
Discovering that an ACKNOWLEDGED LESBIAN had done an ad for a company SOME GAY LIBERALS are CHOOSING TO BOYCOTT must have have given GothamPC the FIRST ORGASM he's had in decades.

Thank you, Reg, for really calling Goth out.
Goth, why DO you love to mock gay people?
I haven't shopped there since the news of their contribution was made public.

I haven't either, and that was a change for me.
I've made due with Kohl's and Bed Bath & Beyond, which is difficult for me because I really don't like BB&B. And I did write to Target to inform them of my decision, and I received a form-letter response (e-mails both ways). I really have no use for Walmart.
I don't like Kohl's and have no need for BB&B. I will never shop at the mall near my home because of the pretentious people that shop and work there along with two nasty racial incidents. But mostly because I just don't like the stores there. I do like to get my shirts from the mega Ross not far from me.
I always preferred Linens & Things to BB&B, but I think BB&B has even gotten worse since their most direct competition is gone. The BB&B near us has added a large goumet section and a Harmon Health & beauty section, and the store is so crowded it's hard to actually find housewares there.
Do Canadians get credit for boycotting if the store isn't actually in their country? I mean how MUCH effort we talking about here?

I think I missed something here. Coould someone fill me in on why we're supposed to boycott Target?
I don't have a link handy-dandy, but they made a corporate donation to a right-wing candidate for governor of Minnesota (their corporate home). This guy has extremely conservative social views, which fly in the face of Target's own corporate policies. Come to think of it, I don't even know the outcome of that race...
Edit: OK, so I had to look up the results. The GOP candidate, Emmer, lost to the Dem, Dayton. However, the margin was only about .5%, so an automatic recount has begun.
I think they actually donated to a group (MN Forward) that then ran ads for the conservative republican candidate who opposed gay marriage - it was not a direct donation to the candidate.
It was for a group that was running ads for the candidate:

Best Buy also contributed to same group I believe..... When asked to Target didn't give an equal donation to the HRC.
I heard somewhere that Target donated to The Trevor Project, which if that is true I will be making my triumphant return.

Target gives to all sorts of charities- some awesome, some dreadful. I imagine their selection of an out lesbian as spokesperson was seen as a "reach around" to the gay community.
