Well its finally happened. I'm really a teacher. I've had the job for a couple of months now, but tomorrow is the first day of school. At 8:30am I will be standing in front of 21 4th graders whom will be expecting me to teach them something worthwhile. No pressure, right?
Anyways, I have been a away for awhile setting up my classroom, but I just wanted to check in and let you guys know what's going on. I miss you all.

I almost just crapped my pants even thinking about standing in front of a roomful of 4th graders.
Break a chalk!
Wow! congrats! I know you're going to do a phenomenal job.

"Break a chalk!"
I love it.
Sidenote - it really isn't surprising is it that I was always the one to volunteer to 'clap out' the erasers?
What a Kiss-ass, even for nuns.
How times have changed.
not really DG, it's just not the nun's asses you're kissing now.
Good luck, Kel.
Do they still use chalk? I thought everything was whiteboards now.
Oh, and congrats! I have to older brothers who also teach. Keep a journal, you'll have some great stories to pass along.
Good luck Kel! You'll be a fabulous teacher!

Wow, you're starting really early. I thought we went back early, starting on August 27th.
I'm sure tomorrow will be fine. The kids are still all in "new school year" mode. It's the next few days you'll need to worry about! That's when they relax in to their "normal" behavior. As my father, who was also a teacher, always said, "Never let them see you smile until December".
Can't wait to hear how your first day went!
I'm here, and thanks guys! I was just picking out my clothes for tomorrow- a girl's gotta make a good impression. I also was looking for my camera so I could post pics of my classroom. I'm resizing them now.

Really? Christ. Good thing they still play a phonograph recording of the Star Spangled Banner on the Victrola before every school day.
Ooh...and can I add that I just found out I will NOT be returning to my second school that has been such a nightmare for the last few years. It's a very good thing! And since we're keeping this thread positive and uplifiting for Kel, I won't include the extremely rude email I got from the principal of said school. I'm sure you'll have a great day tomorrow Kel!

I'll be keeping you in my prayers, KelRel. Please remember, I did my best to talk you out of this!

Do they do that before or after the prayer?

Justaguy, they do pray at my school. I am teaching at a private christian school.
DP, yes you did try and that was all the motivation I needed to stay in the profession. Kids need teachers who aren't burnt out and holding on for a few more years so they get their retirement. If you have kids so much just retire. You and your students will be happier.

Kel Rel, any teacher who plays Jack Johnson in their class is MY favorite teacher. Way to go!

Go get 'em, kiddo!
You'll be great - the adventure begins....
Fab, how did you know I would be playing Jack Johnson? I have some Jack, some Disney movie songs, and of course the soundtrack to High School Musical (those kids better know I love them).
Here's my room.
