I liked when Teresa addressed the gay caucus at the Democratic convention yesterday and assured the hundreds of gay and lesbian delegates that they will always have a friend in the White House when she is First Lady. "Just call me Mama T," she told them.

IF the Republicans even had a gay caucus at their convention (which they don't) and IF Laura Bush would deign to address the gay delegates (she hasn't spoken to a gay group in her four years as First Lady), the right-wing nut jobs in that party would go crazy.

Look, there's no contest here for gay Americans. And, we're the people who really know all about shoving it.
