The end will start something new

May she be in a more peaceful place than she was.

Did anyone happen to catch "South Park" last night? If you didn't I don't want to ruin it for you, but they made a few good points about this case, at least in my opinion.

The end will start something new

She's now at peace, and hopefully, a better place (a fact the fundies should at least ACKNOWLEDGE, since going to "heaven" is the basis of all their rhetoric.)

Also the other patients at the hospice will be allowed to literally "rest in peace", without the ridiculous media circus right outside their window -- brought on by the Schindlers, I might add.

The end will start something new

According to CNN, her parents requested that they be with her in her final moments but were denied. I think that is disgraceful.

The way I understand it, they were with her up until about 10 minutes before her death. Her husband was notified the end was near, he arrived, they ushered the parents out so he could see her (since, as you know, there was a court order that both parties couldn't be in the room at the same time). She died while he was with her. And then he immediately left and let the Schindlers have their time with her. If he was really an a*shole about it, he could have refused them access altogether.

Well, true. I was going to supply the link but I'm on a library computer that won't let me put links in posts.
I dunno, Michael Schiavo just rubs me the wrong way. And I actually didn't know about the court order. Thanks for the info; that makes more sense now.

The end will start something new

I, personally, think Terri's been in heaven for about 15 years, right about the time her brain was liquefied. This body's been shuffling around this mortal coil ever since at the whims of the people involved.
Addy, I also don't think Bush should say anything...but, quite frankly, this is another great chance for him to invigorate the radical right base and annoy the rest of America. So put your foot in your mouth, Dubya.
I also feel this sad situation really did create a dialogue in America...and an important one and, fortunately, NOT the one DeLay and the fundamentalists hoped.

The end will start something new

Why do I have the feeling that the wrongful lawsuits are going to start being filed almost immediately?
#458

The end will start something new

Because that's the American way, dammit!
And OF COURSE Dubya will say something about her passing. When has he ever resisted the chance to talk about something he knows nothing about?

Nothing wrong with supporting life if thats what you believe... But this isn't the time or the place. Condolences would have been nice, W. Only condolences.

CK, if there's one thing we've learned, EVERYTHING must be mined for political advantages.
You might be Republican, but surely you can aknowledge that this is one administration that seems to only be increasing the reputation of politicans plumbing what they can for their own benefit.

JUST MY OPINION - Terri had been dead for 15 years. If her husband was an asshole he wouldn't have become a nurse to take care of her and he really only gave up... what was it, 5 or 7 year? AFTER she became the way she was...that is a LONG time. You can't expect a person to not move on. And I do belive he loved her and I do beleive that at least he thought that's what she wanted with all his heart. If I was ever like her I'd say give me 6 months, a years tops and if I'm not better I'm not getting better, let me go. The parents, although I feel really sad for them, lost touch of reality...she's saying "I want to live" and communicating, and fighting hard to live...that is all their perception. They have lost touch of reality LONG ago. Maybe they can finally mourn now, something they should've done a while ago. I beleive in a heaven and I'm glad she's there, able to soar and be in peace away from the body that held her captive for so long. Like I said, this is just MY OPINION, but I'm sure she's in a better place.

this may have been posted before, but I don't have the time to read the whole thread to see - so forgive me if you've seen it before. It is an excellent article.

Why I don't care
"I don't really get the ending, all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang, and later she kissed him on the toilet, after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung, and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen, and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady? Please help me,thank u very much!" Quote from someone on IMDB in reference to a movie he/she didn't understand. Such grammar!

George should keep his big mouth shut.

CK - I do respect those that believe in "life" issues. My grievance has been that Bush and DeLay and cohorts have exploited this private family matter for their alleged political gain. That bill they passed was absolutely ridiculous and downright scandalous!

That article makes one very good point (which was echoed on "South Park" last night): "If Terri Schiavo had been anything other than brain dead, she would have long ago woken up in a rage at her parents for allowing those humiliating videos to be shown all over the world."

And not it looks like the Pope has taken a turn for the worse. Can you imagine how the religious yahoos will spin this if Terri and the Pope die on the same day?

If Prince Rainier passes on today as well, perhaps Congress can pass a law appointing themselves regents of Monaco.

Better yet, perhaps Bush will invade Monaco to remove the WMDs before they fall into the hands of terrorists.

I assure you, I am not losing sleep over the Pope and his health.

Pope's 'Living Will' Wants Life Support to the End

Red Hot, my sentiments exactly. I always wondered what kind of relationship she had with her family, her husband, etc. What was done about her bulimia? I felt totally maninuplated by the media and the Schindler's so-called spiritual advisor. After a while, I stopped turning on the tv because I realize there was a lot more news going on than what was actually being reported.

I just hope now that the family and her husband can grieve in peace.

Pope's 'Living Will' Wants Life Support to the End

In comment to baddadnpa's comment of not losing sleep over the Pope's health:

Whether or not you're a Catholic or Protestant or nothing at all, the fact that someone is struggling to live while hooked up to machines, and you mock it, is wrong. How would you feel if you're so called friends on this board said that about you or someone you cared about.

I'm not Catholic, but I do know from first hand experience, watching someone you love die, even when they chose to be not on life support, is extremely difficult. You put things in perspective.

The Pope is not God (although a lot of people think he is). I don't question God or who He is. The Pope, however, is a person who is dying. What I question is when people mock a situation for their own political agenda.

I mean no ill will, but this is a situation that hits home for me, as did the Schiavo case. I'm glad she's finally at peace, and that the media circus will let her be now. What happens for the Pope will happen. We have no control, but there is no need to disrespect.

Pope's 'Living Will' Wants Life Support to the End

To those who say George should shut up, I thought the constitution allowed free speech. Silly me

By the way, this "yahoo" is not spinning anything. If the Pope dies the same day, it is 2 people in the public eye dying the same day - nothing more & nothing less. The Pope , like him or not, has been a force for over a quarter of a century. You can try & trivialize his life because you do not agree with him. This is your prerogative . Good luck

Re John Paul:

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=564&ncid=564&e=1&u=/nm/20050401/ts_nm/pope_dc_32

"A former actor who wrote several plays, John Paul has used his mastery of timing, levity and languages to communicate as few other modern world figures have done."

WHAT?! Never knew that about him!!!

Re Terri:

Just because Terri's heart and breathing stopped and she is room temperature doesn't mean she is dead.

We should error on the side of LIFE!!!!!

You monsters want to bury poor Terri alive! Jesus is watching you!

I for one and not going to give up the fight to save her. We should wait until her body fully decomposes before we know for sure she is dead. Until then, I am going to pray and fight that she receives the best medical attention.
