Posted: 1/30/10 at 8:56pmI noticed that too. I'm rooting for Miss District of Columbia.

Posted: 1/30/10 at 8:58pmI don't know who I'm rooting for yet.

Posted: 1/30/10 at 8:59pmI think it was Miss Texas who also tripped, and not even on the steps.

Posted: 1/30/10 at 9:01pmI missed Texas tripping!

Posted: 1/30/10 at 9:08pmIn the past, didn't they have a different set of judges for the preliminary competition?

I have no idea? I'm usually drinking during these shows...LOL
Miss Virginia was pretty good, and when they showed her mom crying in the audience I thought that was sweet.

Posted: 1/30/10 at 9:14pmVirginia had a shaky middle part, but she started and ended well.

Posted: 1/30/10 at 9:15pmWEll at least there's some talent there. Not like the olden days when a contestant packed a suitcase as her talent.
#35The 2010 Miss America Viewing Thread
Posted: 1/30/10 at 9:17pmCompared to last year, I think the talent competition is a lot better. Okay, I thought the accompanment with Miss Louisiana on the piano sort of drowned out her playing, but that was the worst so far.

Posted: 1/30/10 at 9:18pmI kind of miss the juggling and baton twirling days though.....LOL
#37The 2010 Miss America Viewing Thread
Posted: 1/30/10 at 9:23pmI love it when you can tell that the contestant had no talents but learned one song, or one dance (like that last one).

Posted: 1/30/10 at 9:24pmMiss Nebraska has lost my respect for choosing a song from "Legally Blonde." Just kidding. I'm not a big fan of that show, that's all.

I know, I was thinking the exact same thing as you Jane!
I hate opera. No offense to any opera lovers. I just don't "get" it.

Another cliche song.
Sometimes I like Opera, sometimes I don't. I think Miss District of Columbia was a little better.

Posted: 1/30/10 at 9:29pmI just turned it on and was very impressed by Miss Texas.
#43The 2010 Miss America Viewing Thread
Posted: 1/30/10 at 9:32pmThat girl butchered "On My Own." It was not a good rendition at all.
#44The 2010 Miss America Viewing Thread
Posted: 1/30/10 at 9:34pmI didn't like it either.
#45The 2010 Miss America Viewing Thread
Posted: 1/30/10 at 9:45pmthis girl totally avoided answering the question (Haiti)

Agreed. I do think music is important, but I think there are bigger problems down in Haiti right now to worry about.
And I'm sad that Miss District of Columbia was eliminated.
Now I don't know who I want to win.
#47The 2010 Miss America Viewing Thread
Posted: 1/30/10 at 9:51pmThe question was why should we send aid to Haiti when we're suffering a financial disaster here (or something to that effect).

Yeah, she was way off on that, and thankfully she didn't win. Actually, I can live with Miss Virginia winning. Is it a conspiracy that Miss California was 1st runner up?
