The fact that they've been ignoring Scrubs all these years is a pretty good indication of their complete and utter lack of taste, I think. Not to mention how they forgot Veronica Mars, which had a brilliant season once it hit its stride about 4 episodes in.
Naturally, a melodrama about the seedy side of the suburbs won out. It's not like those themes (Stepford Wives) have ever (American Beauty) been explored before with more depth and wit.
Here, I put it up on rapidshare just for you, M J R.

I did find it rather surprising that Patricia Arquette beat Frances Conroy, but I was happy, nonetheless. I was rooting for both. I may be in the minority on this board, but I find that Patricia delivers a very natural effortless and believable performance for her character (she's come a long way since Nightmare on Elm Street 3). I think she does a wonderful job and I think it was a particularly tough category with Hargitay, Conroy and Arquette leading the list (I didn't think Garner or Close stood a chance this year).
What makes me sad, though, is that Huff was overlooked for drama series as I think it was superior to all those nominated for last season. Blythe Danner is only one of the many reasons to watch the show.
orange,
Yes, I actually like AD (except that horrendous Martin Short guest spot). I never said I didn't like it. I'm just saying that the "99% of people don't get it" argument is assuming a lot. Some people may "get it" and just not like it.
I understand that people love shows like the CSI franchise, but I don't like it. It's not because I don't get it. It's just not my taste. Same w/ AD.
