The Blacklist

Room for guest stars each week...

James Spader owns the screen. His performance is reason enough for me to keep watching. Although, I actually find alot to like about this series. I guess I'm in the minority about Megan Boone. I think she fits the roll.

What was the mark on the top of the box that was buried in the floor? For some reason, I kept thinking it looked like the scar on her hand. But, that's probably just my brain playing tricks on me.

ok, glad you went there. For some reason I kept making a mental connection between those two marks and the brand on backs of Raymond's associates.

The Blacklist

oooh - really good observation! I'm going to have to re-watch this past episode to see if I can see it more clearly.

Interesting.

Javero, I noticed it was the same mark on her hand and on the box also. But wasn't the mark on the guy's back a different design? I can't recall.

"But wasn't the mark on the guy's back a different design?"

Probably was, Jane. Gotta re-watch too. It it wasn't the same mark, smart money is on it being the brand of a rival organization. The show isn't bad but it has yet to break any new ground, imho.

The Blacklist

Like Jordan, I stared watching and felt that the writers must have been the cheaters in school who copied off other's term papers. But I like the show because of Spader.

The Blacklist

Last night was the strongest episode since the pilot, but the show has gone completely haywire and I guess you either have to go with it or become completely frustrated.

When Spader is on screen The Blacklist is one of the most enjoyable new shows of the season, but every millisecond he's out of frame causes the quality of the show to plummet.

All of the supporting characters are boring, underdeveloped and interchangeable.

Somehow Spader makes it all work though, even when he's doing something as ridiculous as going to HAITI to keep up the front that he's still a criminal!

The Blacklist

I notice the influence of other shows/movies on the Blacklist, but I don't care because I find the show very entertaining. Yeah, it's over the top, but being entertained is what matters to me!

The Blacklist

I agree that when a show throws out all logic and just wants to be wild and entertaining that can make for great viewing. Not every show can be, nor should be, Homeland and Boardwalk Empire.

The Blacklist needs to be careful though, because when anyone other than Spader speaks the shows stops being so entertaining and it's easy to start thinking about the implausibilities and flaws. If the FBI is going to let Spader roam about the WORLD and basically do whatever he wants they need to stop putting up any fight when he makes suggestions about their missions. Spader should just be made head of the task force to take down the names on his blacklist.

The Blacklist

Guess what - Spader isn't all that to me. He's good, yeah, but I enjoy the fast moving plot, surprises, action, and of course the grisly scenes.

btw, I first discovered Spader in Sex, Lies, and Videotape, when he was extremely hot looking and sexy. I'm glad he's still around because of his fine acting.

Actually, I consider it all entertainment.

The Blacklist

I thought Spader was at his best during Boston Legal, and you can see lots of Alan Shore in his Blacklist character, which is maybe why I'm so taken with his performance.

And I didn't mean to imply that Homeland and Boardwalk Empire weren't entertaining. They just are of a more serious ilk. The Blacklist is closer in tone to Scandal, or wants to be anyway, except even when Scandal is spiraling out of control the characters still are forced to behavior with a reasonable level of realism and credibility.

On one level Blacklist reminds me most of Smash. The scenes are fun to watch, but any questioning of the show's logic is ill-advised.

The Blacklist

I had fallen behind on this show, caught last week's episode last night in lieu of watching live, and I'm out. The implausibilites have gotten such that even Spader doesn't make up for them for me.

I'm gonna stick with Agents of SHIELD for my goofy action show. At least they know the limits of their comic-book reality and are playing with them.
Words don't deserve that kind of malarkey. They're innocent, neutral, precise, standing for this, describing that, meaning the other, so if you look after them you can build bridges across incomprehension and chaos. But when they get their corners knocked off, they're no good anymore…I don't think writers are sacred, but words are. They deserve respect. If you get the right ones in the right order, you can nudge the world a little.

The Blacklist

I'm still in, and watched a couple of episodes while I was home today that had been on my Season Pass.

I like the development of the storylines with the husband, her father and Red.
I also like that how they've evolved some of the criminal storylines.

Of course it's implausible, but it's a TV show. I don't need it to be real.

James Spader continues to deliver a brilliant performance.

Did anyone watch last night? Omg- that was like a good movie-took me right into it. I was mesmerized. I thought that was the best episode yet, just can't say enough about it.

The Blacklist

I watched and very much enjoyed last night's episode. Definitely the best yet. If it had a cinematic feel to it it was because Joe Carnahan wrote/directed the episode.

Last one out, turn out the lights...I'm off to watch the final season of NIKITA on CW. I gotta see a 105 lb hot chick kicking some 240 lb baddie's butt then blowing shaite up, all after rescuing a shipping container full of hotter Eastern European, African, and Asian chicks being smuggled into the US.
