Anyone else seeing it this weekend? I've been looking forward to it all summer.

I'm going tonight.

If it's 1/4 as well directed as City of God, it should be a masterpiece.

Usually labor day weekend is a terrible movie weekend.

Thank Jeebus for Focus Features.

I'd totally change sides for Rachel Weisz....ooh, that sexy voice!

I saw this the other day...the best picture of the year so far, by far. Just brilliant.

I can't wait to see this, but I'm still waiting for Junebug to play in my town. I just hope it's better than Crash. Updated On: 9/2/05 at 07:53 PM

You didn't like Crash?

I was planning to go this evening. My wife, brother and I went out for Chinese and got to the local movie theatre (I'm not in the city this weekend) at 7:30 for the 7:45 show. SOLD OUT. I was pissed. Went to the movie store and nothing good was left, so here I am. re: The Constant Gardener

***end rant***

I pre-ordered tickets for tomorrow's 7:45 show already.

It's spectacular - I know you will love it.

I didn't like CRASH either...

You didn't like Crash?

I know I will get attacked for this, but I despised Crash for many reasons. It's one of this year's many overrated films.

Crash was decent but the symbolism/social commentary got way too preachy at times. Like a more mainstream version of Do the Right Thing.

Yeah, but I liked how Crash was all encompassing and not too one sided.

But in any case, yes, The Constant Gardner was brilliant.

I have to catch Junebug too, though...

CRASH was definitely promising, but too misguided - they didn't even really know what they were trying to say. The end with the 50 asian children in the back of the truck really annoyed me.

Who is in Junebug? I've never heard of it...

Yikes... going to dinner and hoping to catch the 9:45 showing. I hope it doesn't sell out.

I just got back. We exchanged our tickets and went to the 6:45 showing.

This film is an absolute masterpiece. Believe the hype. It's easily the best film I've seen this year so far.

I agree, and Rachel Weisz's performance is transfixing.

they didn't even really know what they were trying to say.

EXACTLY!!! Haggis was doing so many things at once, he ended up saying nothing at all.

Who is in Junebug? I've never heard of it...

Junebug is an independent film that was released a few weeks ago. It stars Amy Adams (who is getting some Best Actress buzz), Alessandro Nivola, Embeth Davitz, and Benjamin Mackenzie. I heard it was reeeeeaaaaally good.

Wow. Great movie. Not what I was expecting, but totally amazing. I was transfixed the whole time. Not a great date movie, as it will ruin whatever 'mood' you might be in. re: The Constant Gardener

Fascinating film. Cinematography and art direction are unbelievable. And Rachel Weisz is spectacular.

There are not words (atleast not at this point, I just got back from the movie) to describe how amazing that movie was. Possibly the most beautiful (visually, cinemotragraphically) film I've ever seen. I was shocked that it was only 2 hours long. They fit so much, so well into a short amount of time. Amazing performances, directing, everything. And the last 15 or so minutes, wow, just wow.

Rachel Weisz and Rallph Fiennes are crazy good.

I demand Oscars for this movie, multiple Oscars.

PS. Borstal, I litterally said the same thing about Rachel Weisz and her voice earlier this week.

Liked the movie. The wife was just "eh" for me. Thought she hammed up the student bit. But Ralph was there, baby, there.

Liam Neeson is in The Constant Gardener, isn't he? If so, I'm going to have to see it - anything with Liam Neeson (that's not Star Wars: Episode One) has to be a great movie.
