re: re: re: re: re: The J-Lo on 'Will and Grace '!

Am I the only one, but I want Karen to be my best friend. You know someone to go shopping with, someone with a great apartment on the Upper Eastside. That would be the life. Anyone else?

LOL Loved Jack as the backup dancer! And the whole Glow references were cute. The funniest was when J-Lo was trying to make a speech about Marriage, and then she was like, "Ah. Who am I kiddin'."
I knew Karen and Lyal (sp?) would get a divorce, but I didn't think she was going to request it at her own wedding reception.

Grace's husband is a moron. She should have gotten rid of him a long time ago.

What was the deal with that short Ross-Perot type guy? I know I've seen him on the show before, I just don't remember who he's supposed to be on there.

Best part: The chicken Dance. lol and then Jennifer Lopez getting mad that she missed the chicken dance. hahaha

The show was really funny/entertaining tonight....even though most of the plot was predictable. It was obvious Leo did more with that girl in cambodia, after lyle's speech it was obvious karen would relize she didnt want to be married, and it was kinda obvious grace wouldnt want to see leo again. haha the most unpredictable thing would be Jack getting to tour with J/lo. hahaha i wonder if they will follow through with that next season.

I somehow missed all of this season on Will and Grace and after last night's debacle...I'm rather glad I did!

What happened to this show? Is it the writing? Has everyone won an Emmy so they don't care anymore....?

Strained is putting it mildly...

J-Lo walked off with the show and the fact that she can laugh at herself is pretty nifty!

Lo-J did indeed walk off with the show last night -- I didn't know she had it in her (so to speak...)

But Voicey is exactly right -- what HAS happened to the writing on that show? It's gotten more and more ridiculous, completely unrealistic in everything. It has officially "jumped the shark".

I mean, it was ALWAYS a fairy-tale but ...last night was just totally unreal and fake and not funny!...

What's worse is they all seem to be sleep walking they're way through it...

This was, at one time, one of the best shows on television....very sad to see it in the crapper...

but J-Lo shrugging and going "Ah, who am I kidding??" was one of the best TV moments this year!

re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: The J-Lo on 'Will and Grace '!

I realized this show had hit rock bottom in the writing when I tuned into the season premiere and saw Rosario and Karen riding a jet ski back to Karen's yatch after she had been thrown overboard (a very Lucy and Ethel type stunt that is not as comical as it may have been 50 years ago).

Will has become dull. Karen might as well be a cartoon at this point. jack is an over done characiture of himself and Grace is pretty much non existent even when she is on the show. She's no more than the set pieces in the background. And why the hell did they give her a husband that is barely on the show? The whole story line of them being married and his going off to Cambodia rings false. If they really felt they had to marry her off, they should have chose a more available actor and writen the story line differently.

The short fellow is actor Leslie Jordan - he has a recurring role as a ongtime acquaintance of Karen's. They seem to have a love/hate relationship. His character seems obviously gay, but he speaks of a wife we have never seen (like Gil Chesterton on Frasier, or Corkiy St. Clair in Waiting for Guffman).

About ten yeas ago, Leslie Jordan did an autobiographical Off-Broadway show called "Hysterical Blindness and Other Tragedies That Have Plagued My Family", in which he told about his experiences growing up gay in a Southern Baptist family.

He was also a regular on the sitcom "Hearts Afire" with John Ritter, Markie Post and Billy Bob Thornton.

Occ this show can still hit the mark, but I rally have found the writing getting to the clownish & not in a good way!
J.Lo was the best thing ( & people complain about stunt casting!) wwhich is sad.
I also like the Beverley character Karen & he married for money & cheerfully acknowlege them selves as a special class of golddigger.
Obviously the Lyel arc had to end hell Lorraine (his daughter wasn't even there!) & no body has commented on the almost total waste of Tim Curry!

I definitely have noticed that the couple of times I watched this season. And it really is sad that the best part of last night's episode was Jennifer Lopez (who was pretty funny). lol

J-Lo: I can't perform without two backup dancers.
Karen: Why not?
J-Lo: Because I need two.
Karen: Well, can't you just use one?
J-Lo: No.
Karen: Why?
J-Lo: Because it's not two. :)
Karen: Damn it! This girl has an answer for everything!

Tim Curry's character was completely stupid.
The whole casino scenes were moronic (accept the part in the bathroom).
J-Lo: ...and studying for my real estate license. Do you rent or own?
Karen: Honey, I own everyone.

I do like Rosario. She is really underused.
I hope they fire some of those writers and get some good ones before next season.

Leslie Jordan. The only thing I remember that man saying on that show in it's entire history.

"My My Karen Walker. I thought I smelled gin & tonic."
Bill Finn rocks. Woot.

Actually.....I believe it was

"Why, Karen Walker. I thought I smelled gin and regret."

"Beverly Leslie, you look more like a woman every time I see you"

Later, that scene Karen said something about him being just as sweet as a normal sized person
(formerly bronte604) "You really just love money and power and capitalism? You know they're never going to love you back." "Things happen for the best...I don't even believe that myself."

re: re: re: re: re: re: The J-Lo on 'Will and Grace '!

I enjoyed the episode very much, but I'm the first to admit that I watch it mostly to drool over TSMrMcC. He ggave me plenty to drool over this time.

I laughed hysterically when Jack donned the durag and filled in as one of J-Lo's backups. When you work amid a sea of durags, that sort of thing is very funny.

I thought J-Lo was quite good, but she really had trouble delivering her punchlines. It seems as though she was dropping character whenever she got to the end of a line. The sad thing is, she was playing herself.

re: re: re: re: re: re: re: The J-Lo on 'Will and Grace '!

What season is this show in? I seem to recall Frasier getting pretty bad 4 or 5 seasons in, and it wasn't just because of Kelsey Grammar's alcohol problems either. There would be really good string of episodes here or there, but it wasn't until this season that the show really picked back up, which is a real shame because now it's pretty much over.

Will and Grace really has hit a slump though. The humour has gotten really silly, with lot's of cheap jokes that end up hurting the show in the long run. Another thing that bugs me is the fact that Megan Mullaly is probably going to be type-cast for the rest of her career for playing Karen (I'm pretty sure she almost got the role of Dori in Finding Nemo, but refused to do that silly Karen voice for the movie). She's a talented actress that needs to get off that show and come back to Broadway.....right now!!!!
