What the hell happened with the subways this morning? Why were they such a mess?? I tried to transfer to different lines twice as a potential remedy. I was too stubborn to just give up and take a cab to my meeting. Any one else have issues this morning?

ETA: I felt strange starting a thread just about this morning (9/13), so thought I'd turn it into something more broad....

I didn't. The 6 crawled along at its usual glacial rate of progress, but it really was no different than usual.

But I heard friends complaining about the ACE trains.

I was on the C and then tried transferring to the 1. When that didn't really help, I tried the E. Anyway... good to know. But doesn't change my strong feelings of disdain for MTA.

From what I've heard from some people who work for the MTA, do not get on the 7, unless you absolutely have to. Apparently that one has not been repaired well or at all over the years, making it the most unsafe of all the subways.

Oddly, I was on a rerouted 7 train yesterday, on the 6 line. They always seem cramped and dark to me. Not sure what's different.

They've done a great deal of work on the 7 over the past decade. It's not so bad. It's the G that I don't believe really exists.

The G exists. I've ridden it to BAM a few times. But the schedule is erratic, and it is often suspended on weekends.

There is a service advisory issued for the 7 train daily. There is always something going wrong with it and it always seems to happen during the rush hours.

As far as I am concerned, the MTA is a corrupt organization. They take our money and do nothing to improve the service. Why is there always a so-called deficit in their books that requires them to hike the fares? There have been 6 fare hikes over the last 12 years. When I moved to the city back in 2001 it cost $63.00 for a 30-Day MetroCard and it is more than double that amount now. Where does this money go? The service gets worse with each passing year.

I miss the one day Unlimited card. I still can't figure out why they discontinued it.

I too have taken the G train before. But, it was always on a weekday. I can't think of anything horrible about it. Then again, I only took it for 3 days, so I'm sure that makes a difference in opinion.

Oh, no, the train itself was unaffected by the power outage- I believe it only affected the rail.

Ah, that's a relief. Still . . . Was the train full? People forced to stand for an hour? It still sounds awful. Even seated, with no water, no bathrooms.

I've never been stuck that long. It makes me think I should always have water with me, at least.

^ Ever since the blackout of 2003, I try to always have water with me. A friend who lived in Astoria got stuck under the east river on the N train. The were there an hour...and THEN had to walk the track out when it was clear that power wouldn't be resorted any time soon. I'd lose my SH*T.

The train was fairly full... luckily I was sitting and had a fully-charged iPhone on which to play Temple Run 2.

Then, two passengers apparently fell ill, which caused further delays once the train was able to get to a station.

Well they already made Happiness...

I know it wasn't universally loved (or even liked), but I enjoyed the score and performances a lot.
