OK....I knew they had closed for rennovations...but I went on the website to see for how long and got this message:
"The Milford Plaza Hotel closed on December 12, 2009, and the planned renovation of the hotel has been suspended while the owner assesses its options with respect to the property."
THAT doesn't sound good. Yikes.
(Apologies if this has already been posted.)

Well, when you're only charging $43 per night (including breakfast, dinner and a cocktail!) ...

Posted: 6/7/10 at 11:37amI spent the scariest sleepless night in my life in this dump. And I paid more than twice as much for a dirty bug-filled room across from their extremely noisy elevators.

Posted: 6/7/10 at 1:41pmI haven't stayed there in ages, but when I did, the rooms were small, but not dirty or noisy or anything. This was late 80s to mid 90s.

Posted: 6/7/10 at 2:04pmIn the late 80s I stayed there and it was all right. Yes the room was small, but I wasn't in NYC to hang around in a hotel room. I think I paid $99 per night.

The Milford Plaza is where I stayed at the first time I went to NYC - August 1988. The room was very small. The room had a double bed, and the door into the room, from the outside hallway, couldn't open all the way - the bed was in the way.
At the time the hotel was a Best Western, and I was working at a Best Western property here in LA, and stayed there for free. On that trip I saw "Starlight Express," "42nd Street," "Speed The Plow," "Broadway Bound" and "Phantom Of The Opera."

Stayed there in January 2009. Room was clean. Place was safe. And it was close to everything. I also got a tremendous post-holiday deal and stayed for Saturday and Sunday nights for a total of $300.
Too bad. I planned to stay there this fall...

Posted: 6/11/10 at 12:22pmI only spent 45 minutes there with a flight attendant once. Didn't really pay attention to the decor.

"I only spent 45 minutes there with a flight attendant once."
Only 45 minutes? Rather quick aren't you? Or is flight attendant a euphemism for hooker?

Although I hold no judgements, I have never paid (nor been paid) for sex.
45 minutes is perfect for an afternoon quickie during work!
