The O.C.

Posted: 11/2/06 at 8:08pmIt's back tonight. I'll check it out to see where they're going with things this season. Hopefully, the show will hold my interest better than last season.

They just skipped five months?! Just like that at the beginning of the episode?! That's lame.
So are they just... not going to address Marissa's death at all? Confused.
ETA: ok, so they did. Sorta. It was lame anyway, though. I hope it gets better again.

I love how they are addressing Marissa's by showing how everyone is being affected by it. I have a feeling that the next few episodes will further expand on how NOT well everyone is coping, specifically Summer and Ryan (I mean, cage fighting, for real?!)
Julie totally broke my heart tonight, as did Summer. And oh to add, the comic book scene, although cheesy, got me good.
I was truly impressed with the episode. I didn't watch one single episode of Season 3 because I was so fed up with the show...so yay! it appears the old OC may be coming back.

I like the technique, I guess, but think I would have liked to see at least the first episode of the season pick up directly after her death, and maybe THEN make the jump.
Summer is interesting, because she insists that she's moved on better than everyone else. I feel like they're just going to make Caitlin into Marissa, part two, or something, though.

I agree.
I did however like the episode and will continue watching.
I did read in EW and heard on E! that by episode 4, it will be back to its season 1 goodness.
Julie broke my heart aswell, during the whole episode.
Summer is confusing me, I feel for her, yet, are her apperances going to be few and far between, since she's in college in Rhode Island?

Posted: 11/4/06 at 6:04pmMy DVR wasn't working and I was forced to pick between The OC and Grey's Anatomy. I picked Grey's. Now that my DVR's up and running I'll be able to watch both. Did I miss any major plot development? Or will I be able to just pick up from the second episode?

^^
Dumb choice, you could have watched Grey's Anatomy on the internet (ABC.com loads up all episodes) and then watch The OC on TV.

Posted: 11/4/06 at 6:18pmI'm really not sure how much I care about this show anymore. I like the characters, but it seems like things happen on the show just to fill time, rather than to develop characters. I'll probably still check out the next couple episodes to see if I change my mind, though.

Posted: 11/4/06 at 6:18pmHey now, the ABC.com videos freeze up my computer. So don't go calling my choice "dumb." Anyway, I've just read a full synopsis of the episode so I'll be able to watch it next week.

Yes, it's legal; it's run by Fox (they have other shows on there as well). You can already watch next week's episode of The O.C., too.
About the first episode, though: I thought it was very well done and I was not bothered by the fact that they jumped ahead five months. They're addressing Marisa's death by showing how people are still trying to cope with it (and obviously most people are having a really hard time). I thought Rachel Bilson did a particularly good job acting-wise. I've heard that episodes 3 and 4 are fantastic, so I can't wait to see them. I'm glad Josh Schwartz stepped back in to rev up the writing; it seems like classic The O.C. is back.
