What a horrible, horrible show that was.
I cannot believe Michael Emerson didn't win. He deserved that award way more than anyone in that category. What a disappointment.
There were some funny bits, but overall this is the worst award show I have ever seen. What a waste of time.
That was awful. What a embarrassingly bad broadcast.

Random thoughts:
The Emmys continue the tradition of honoring the 'old guard', but as I age, I mind that less and less. It was wonderful to see some of those people wandering out onto the stage (Hello, Betty White!)
If TV had actually reached the interactive state, and David Boreanaz knew what I was doing while he was onstage, I would now be carrying his child.
Glenn Close looked remarkable.
A hearty 'well done' to Josh Groban for giving it his all.
And a 'thank you' to all those who took the opportunity to make their own personal political 'digs'. At least someone is.
And 'thank you' to Tommy Smothers for my new sig quote.
One question - does Lily Tomlin AGE AT ALL?!?!?
Yeah for Glenn Close!!! I love "Damages," and can't wait for it to return!!! Kudos also to Alec Baldwin...love him on 30 Rock.

Here's something good from last night: I never knew that the theme to the Andy Griffith Show had lyrics!
OK, my thoughts.....the intro was horrible. The Laugh In thing made me feel so bad for those people. The Josh Groban thing.....part of me thought it was really stupid, and part of me liked hearing all those songs again.
I was really glad for some of the winners, and disagreed with alot of them as well. Which is the same as every year.
I also didn't realize Amy P. was that preggo. She looked adorable.
Christina Applegate looked absolutely lovely!
I loved Laura Linney's community organizer remark. I was like "YEAH! You go, Laura!"
And yes, Miss P. gets to keep her emmy. Dammit. (LOL!)

An agonizing show, all around. Reality TV didn't exactly come off well, did it? Only the guy who won the Emmy came off as having anything even remotely like class. In the warmth department, Heidi Klum makes Martha Stewart look like Betty White. I wish they'd just bag the host nonsense, and just present the awards straight out, with maybe the occasional bit of humorous entertainment only coming from Ricky Gervais, Jon Stewart, and Stephen Colbert.
I rather liked Neil Patrick Harris' quip about "Howie Mandel's prattling" resulting in their bit being cut, with Kristin C.'s response "Bitter, table for two."
I'm glad that Laura Linney and Paul Giamatti won their richly deserved Emmys for JOHN ADAMS. Whatever else I thought about that series, there's no doubt of the extreme brilliance of their performances.

I don't mind montages or memorial tributes...they're enjoyable and it makes sense to have them. But I'm still peeved at the time wasted on the terrible sketches and bits. I would have enjoyed seeing ALL of the acting clips. They're not even that long!
blueroses, I agree about the sketches and bits. They never work and are such a waste of time.
Q, I agree with and share all of your thoughts. (Well, except the activity pertaining to David Boreanaz .
I thought Don Rickle's line about his wife now sitting in Malibu on the beach wearing jewelry and sending signals to ships was hilarious!
It's a shame that the Laugh-In bit didn't work, because it was SUCH an important show in the history of television, and the cast members assembled have SO much talent. But, the timing of it just didn't work. They deserved better for a Laugh-In 'reunion'. More of a tribute.
I zoned out and missed the Laura Linney remark about community organizers- what did she say?
Something about how working on the movie made her appreciate the wonderful community organizers who founded our country? Just in a nutshell, I don't remember the exact quote.
A brutal, brutal show last night...so painfully unfunny and terribly paced!
Howie Mandell should shut the f up...he's never been clever or funny. Heidi, you looked better in the tux, my dear.
Thank god for NPH, Don Rickles and Kathy Griffin ("Just take it! I have my hands full!"), Steve Martin and Tommy Smothers.
Ricky Gervais/Steve Carell, John Stewart/Steve Colbert were all funny but too long.
The set recreations? WHY?! WTF was that about? NONE of the sets were at all interesting and they didnt even look right! What a colossal waste of time...as was Josh Groban, who didnt even sound very good. A kickline behind "Suicide is Painless"?! I wanted to throw something at him and I will definitly send him some shampoo. You're at the Emmys...wash your hair!
Was Alan Sues alive? Did they find him in some looney bin? I hope someone got him home safely! I felt so bad for the rest of them...Lily deserves an award for trying so hard to keep that bit together!
Anyway, the wasted time kept the big winners from showing clips during the reading of the nominees (I love that...it's also the time when you see why someone might deserve the award.)
I disagree about Jean Smart. I was surprised, but very happy with her win. She's wonderful on Samantha Who? Just because she's won before doesnt mean she doesnt deserve this one.

Excellent recap, doodle, I agree.
I was so pleasantly surprised that Rickles is still sharp and alert. I truly expected them to have to help him walk and I was sure he'd fumpher (sp).
I love him, and so glad he received an emmy too!
Blueroses, I remember seeing her on the R.C. Who is that?

The stunning Christina Hendricks--aka office femme fatale Joan Holloway on Mad Men. I think she looks like a knockout!
Did someone mention that she was on that sci fi thing Tin Men? If so, I remember thinking she was beyond stunning!
I've never seen Mad Men, but after last night I think I need to start watching it - it looks really good. What channel is it on?
Yes, she looked lovely! I remember thinking "gee, could she donate like half her chest to me?" Va va voom!
Yes, Christina Hendricks looked amazing, as did Christina Applegate, Nicolette Sheridan, Jean Smart, etc.
I love Chenowith, but Jean Smart SO deserved her Emmy. She is fantastic on Samantha Who? Her comic timing is impeccable.
Comedy supporting actor: I would have been happy with any four of the five nominees (loved Duckie Dale, but Jon Cryer is out of his league in this catergory). I love Entourage and Piven is always stellar, but I actually prefer Dillon on that show. But you can't go wrong with NPH or Rainn Wilson.
I like Baldwin, but Carell deserves recognition for the most lovable idiot on TV.
I just started watching Mad Men...love it. Hamm is such a dreamboat.

I absolutely LOVE Kevin Dillon's Johnny Drama! He is so damn underappreciated.
Kudos to 30 Rock and its well deserved wins.
Vanessa W. deserved to win over Jean Smart, who is not quite as talented as she seems to think she is.
Josh was OK but why not have Carol Burnett come on stage and tug her ear? And a scary-looking MTM could have come out and thrown her hat in the air IF they had thought of letting Josh sing its theme song.
He should also have sun MAUDE and GOOD TIMES.
Thanks blueroses, I'm going to set my DVR right now.
"...Jean Smart, who is not quite as talented as she seems to think she is."
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but where did that comment come from? She was clearly surprised and grateful about her win. Did I miss her acting like a deserving bitch to Vanessa?
