haha, I had found this when googling him one day...
Oh that shirt, lol! (Only redeeming quality is the presence of a wife beater, hehe!)
...are those pajama pants?
I think a big part of the problem with theatre in general is that to tourists who know little about shows, they'll go see A Chorus Line over Company because they already have a general idea of what it's about. This campaign did so little to make people want to buy tickets and grab their interest, at least in my opinion. What Company didn't use to its advantage was the fact that it could reach such a wide range of groups.

lol, siamese - those pics! Back in the day, New York City, 1997...
"I don't think I've ever been a big fan of someone who has that level of fame (or lack thereof) before."
Do you mean because you think he should have come out after the BB Kings show? Or are you saying more that he has a strange level of celebrity that sort of puts him in a strange place?
Regarding Company - the middle aged people who were in the rush seats on Wednesday were saying to obsessed, katecabb and I, "You guys like this show? But its for old people!" I guess people assume that younger people like us can't relate to the story, so the publicity people didn't either. I loved katecabb's response, though, which was "Raul's for everyone"
hehe
I know what Lexi means by being a fan of someone who, in the scheme of things, really isn't that famous. Most people who know that I've gone to see Adam's shows or post here, think there's an ulterior motive or something they're missing in the story. I don't know why I chose Adam instead of Usher to start listening to, but I think the close knit fanbase of Broadway has a lot to do with the dedication. I don't think waiting outside after a concert qualifies me as a groupie, as some would put it, but the majority of people don't understand that doing that isn't outrageous in this industry. Very different from being a fan of a film star.

Wait, what? I wasn't talking at all about the decision to stagedoor or not to stagedoor after the BB King show (incidentally, someone I know said that he actually did come out and signed for a few people who were waiting there, just before most others had the opportunity to get out of the door). Jenna has it right in saying that I was referring to being a fan of someone who, frankly, isn't truly famous. I've never really been a big fan of someone who you don't hear anything about for months at a time other than hearing about already-announced news.
Oh, and just FYI, those pictures were actually from the London production of Rent. I should have specified.
i agree. I talk about seeing Adam and all that stuff, and 95% of the people I know look at me strange. But i think that just makes me more unique, lol!
I think the words "disappeared after BB Kings" were what confused some. While I wish him all the best in his career, I'm kind of glad Adam isn't megafamous. From what I've seen it's a very tough thing to handle except for those who are very adept at public relations or terminally sociopathic.
I'm glad that Adam isn't too famous, like the people you hear everyday about. If a celebrity is constantly being talked about and is everywhere I tend to get tired of them. And usually the news about them is nothing good.
I'm really curious about American Primitive. I really want to see it now.

Sorry, siamese - I misread what you wrote. Chloe's right, I thought there was a link between his disappearing after BB King's and what you said next. Nevermind
Anyway, it is a strange place to be in. Even when I mention Anthony Rapp to people, they're like "who?" and I have to say "the guy from Rent" and people say, "oh, the scarf guy!" hehe. I'm curious to see if Adam comes back to NY any time in the future. I understand why he wanted to move to the West Coast, especially because of the film opportunities out there, but still - I cant help but think that the dead theater scene and Hollywood hype would get to anyone after awhile. But thats just me.
Ah the internet - the misreading comes in thinking Lexi meant that Adam disappeared FROM BB Kings, when she meant that he disappeared from public view after that show and hasn't done any performances since.
I'm with all of you in anticipating American Primitive. From what the director says, his role could be more nuanced and interesting than what I first imagined it would be.

it actually does seem like he disappeared after bb kings tho, lol.
I'm really curious to see him in a more subtle role. Im excited that it was filmed on the Cape, too
Right, that's where the confusion comes in.
Truthfully, what I find most difficult to picture is Adam as a furniture maker (if the script follows real life to that extent). He just doesn't strike me as Mr. Handyman, though I never would have guessed he would be a good cook either.

I know, that was so cute in Cybele's cookbook when she talks about his cooking. As if I needed another reason to love Adam...he is also a cook!
Ok, first off...SEALS!!!
Secondly, I would normally try to be apart of the discussions that are at hand; but I am in such a pissy mood right now. So I started my new job this week, which is really exciting. Everything's been going really swell except for today. First, a woman complained about her latte being too cold, so I made her a new one; but than I return with her new cup and she deliberatly drops the mug on the floor and says "Oh sorry sweetheart, I guess another latte will be needed..." Shwwwaaa???? And this said 'Evil Latte Woman' also brought with her two very rotund cats that made me sneeze to high heaven! I then walked into 2 doors, burnt myself twice, got whacked in the face with a broom; and to top it all off I spilled a full bucket of dirty mop water all over the place; so I had to reclean the entire area AGAIN. I really, really need a hug AND to get some shut eye. Majorly
Ugg, double post...:-X

Brina, if you want nightmarish job stories, I can offer you some. Don't sweat the small stuff - it happens, there's nothing you can do. That woman sounds miserable to begin with
Hope you feel better in the morning!
*sending you hot drunken hugs from Adam, lol*
want to hear about the woman who lost her cell phone in nordstroms after trying on clothes in nearly every department? Yeah... that was fun... on my hands and knees searching through clothes racks. tried calling her phone to no avail. Finally found it in the coat pocket of a coat she had tried on. she snatches it back and walked out without even a thank you. Yeah I didn't just lose an hour's worth of commission to help you find your phone. No Problem!
Sorry you had such a rotten day, brina! You probably started bumping into things because that woman was so ridiculously rude. Anyone would be thrown off by something like that. I hope tomorrow is much better.

I'm the biggest klutz when I get angry. It's awful, because you want to appear poised and calm during those times, but I always end up dropping everything I'm holding and walking into everything when I'm TRYING to give an image of being cool and collected (which I rarely ever am anyway). Sorry that your day was awful, Brina. I've dealt with many rude customers in the past at Starbucks, although I don't think I've ever dealt with someone quite that awful.
Thanks guys I'm going to the Mall of America with my family today, so that'll be fun; it should hopefully put my mind at ease from any of the stress you know?
Ok, now this is back 'off-topic' but when do you think any pictures of Adam from American Primitive will come around?
Hopefully some pictures will turn up soon. I really want to see what Adam will look like in his role.
The other day, when I was watching Pirates of the Caribbean, I noticed that one of Jack's shipmates is named Mr. Gibbs, and it reminded me of American Primitive.
Oh funny, I didn't even think of that!
Woah...I'm totally mesmorized. Where did you find this sweetdisaster?
