re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, Part 12

A friend of mine saw Billy Elliot in London and thought it was amazing; so she's definintly on the bandwagon re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, Part 12 And despite what people may say on the main boards, I think Elton John is a wonderful composer; his music works really well for Adam's voice.

So another on-topic thing, I know this has been asked before a bit but what roles do you think Adam could do? I always thought he could play Buddy in 'Side Show' or Jojo in 'The Life'.

I hope his CD comes out within the year. His new music is shaping up to be something very good.

I like Elton John, too. I'm really excited to see Billy Elliot. Interesting that you noticed a similar fandom, Chloe. Is it because of certain actors or just the entire show?

I hope Adam's cd comes out soon, I need new material from him, hehe

On the main page one of the articles talks about a Chess Benefit being held in LA. I was surprised Adam wasn't involved.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, Part 12

Where was the mention of a Chess benefit? I didn't see it.

The Billy Elliot fandom seems quite different in nature, but is similar in that some people have seen the show dozens of times, keep track of who's in and out or new in the cast, and are generally obsessed. The forum I mentioned is huge, and already has a section devoted to the American version. There's a separate area for reviews, with the June thread already twenty-some pages long. (Previous months are already archived.) It's quite a phenomenon.

I'm a longtime fan of Elton's and therefore quite biased, but I do think he's seriously underrated as a musician and composer. His flamboyant persona (which by the way is a cover for an extremely shy man) has overwhelmed his other attributes. I think it's easy for people to assume that because he's known for successful pop singles and a campy stage show, he's musically shallow. His best writing is much more subtle and complicated than it seems on the surface, and his fellow musicians at least seem to appreciate this. Billy Joel commented on how in their shows together Elton would surprise and challenge him with his improvisations.

If I can't have Adam as Freddie, Matt could be a great substitution (if he is playing that part)! :)

I did see that, and his Cabaret buddy Susan Egan is involved, too. I guess Adam figures two throwbacks in one summer would be too much

Sooooo excited for Billy Elliot.

And heh, two is too much, even for him? Susan Egan will be fantastic, though. I loveher.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, Part 12

I haven't been following Billy Elliot very closely, but I'm excited to hear more about it.

I do like a lot of Adam's new music, too, but I miss the more rock sound that was on Civilian or MP. I selfishly hope there's a least one faster song on the new CD.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, Part 12

I think the album would benefit from some variety like that - a rocker or two plus a song or two that's more relaxed. I think what makes the new material seem all of a piece is the intensity it all has.

Here's a video that gives a very good introduction to Billy Elliot. (Sorry if I've linked this before.)

The new album seems like it will be different from his previous work, but I like the new stuff as much as the old stuff. I do kind of want a song similar to his older stuff though.

I just went to the the Friends In Deed website, and there is a link that says "own the image that every collector and "Rent" fan needs to have" -- its one of Annie Leibovitz's photographs of the OBC...for $7,500! I wish I had that kind of money to donate!

I think that was on Rent's official site awhile ago, with all of their autographs for the same price. That is expensive!

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, Part 12

I second that.

Well it's not that Adam actually pulls off some of these looks, it's more that we have begun to just shake our heads and accept it.
