I think Jon Bon Jovi is wonderfully sexy, but he looks far too old for the role. There's no set age, but it wouldn't seem realistic to have someone who looks 40+ as this youthful, rash explorer. Also, as much as I love Sherie Rene Scott, I don't believe she'd work in a movie version at all. She's not unattractive, but she's not the cute, petite type that would be almost necessary for Amneris on film. And again, although there's no set age for her character, why wouldn't Amneris be married off before turning Sherie's age? The stage is so much less limiting.
Weirdly enough, I was talking about the possibility of an Aida movie last night with Craww, and we agreed that it would either probably be awful or deemed too expensive to actually film (if cast with Broadway stars). On a personal level, I'm against casting blockbuster names in the roles, but I also can't really blame Disney. Look what happened with Rent when they tried casting the talented original stars again - it's probably not the only reason why Rent flopped (financially speaking), but it would have been more likely to do well with a star-studded cast. I have to agree that casting Adam in the romantic male lead role opposite Beyonce seems completely unrealistic. His age wouldn't bother me as I think he can pass for around 30 with the proper hair and makeup, but can you honestly imagine Disney advertising a movie with "Beyonce and Adam Pascal"? Not that they'd necessarily go about it in that way, but I'm not seeing it. Also, keep in mind that some might still associate him with the failure of Rent. If they're looking for a blockbuster musical, why would they cast the virtually unknown guy who was the romantic lead in another musical that flopped? It's nice to dream, but no.
I agree with Emcee about the issue of aesthetics. The pro to casting Hollywood stars in the roles is that they'd have a larger budget, although of course who knows if there will be competent people on the other end. Unfortunately, casting huge stars in all of the roles makes me think that the quality of the film will probably be compromised in other ways. It's a catch-22.

Wow Siamese, that was a perfect way of summing up the whole rumor
I do hope that this is a rumor, I honestly do. I mean, there is a part of me that goes "Aida movie? Huzzah!" and another part of me that goes "Aida movie? Uh-oh..." Like Emcee said, it could turn out to be this wonderfully sexy, sumptious type of musical movie OR it could be an extremely shmaltzy unrealistic flop. It is hard to think that the RENT film was an initial failure, but I hope people don't think of Adam as just that. I think he's coming to an age where he really needs to try different projects that will really put him on the map. He can't be Roger forever.

I'm not claiming that everyone connects Adam Pascal's name to failure at all, but I have to imagine that the fact that he starred as the romantic lead in another major movie musical that flopped would certainly cross the minds of anyone even thinking about casting him in an Aida movie. I doubt it would be the deciding factor, but it's not exactly something he has working in his favor.
Another question that comes to mind is Adam would even go for it, if offered? He said he wouldn't go back to Aida or Rent again. He did go back to both, ultimately, but maybe his experiences with Rent would drive him not to go for a movie version of Aida, considering what happened with Rent's movie. The whole thing seems like one of those things that could easily fail, but also easily become a success, like Rent was.

I have no doubts that he'd do it on a second. Even if it were to fail, he's not in the position to be picky when it comes to major motion picture roles. At all.
Very true, Lexi. I would also say that an Aida movie is very far from happening as yet, and there's no guarantee that Beyonce is actually interested. Remember how Rent was going to be a movie in '97? These things are very iffy.
and between live action movie or cartoon, I have seen so many threads on this since I have joined less than a year ago! I will believe it when i see it. Meanwhile, I'll just dream.
If they did this as a cartoon, that is when I would want to see the original cast come together. I feel that Adam's voice has grown so much stronger and has really matured; it could sound amazing to have them back. But, this is all rumor, so I'm not putting any of this in stone.
Siamese: I wasn't saying that you were just associating him with failure, I was just stating what I thought. Hope I didn't affend you or anything.
I really don't believe that the movie will be made anytime in the near future, because it seems too complicated. I'm not sure if I would prefer an animated film or a live action film if it was made. Animated would be interesting....They may have less issues with the big names in that case. Their recent movies, like Cars, The Incredibles, and Rataoulli (sp?)don't have any really big names attached.
For all the mocking done over the rainbow tattoo, I think we should take the time to acknowledge that in the grand scheme of things, Adam does have some pretty decent tattoos.
After all, at least it's not this bad. ;)
I love Adam's new tattoo, the one with the initials of his family members. And the rainbow tattoo isn't all that bad.

skittles, I LOVE that community. You should join it in order to see the rest of the posts, since most of them are locked. I'm just amazed at how many people decide to put truly awful designs on their bodies forever, not to mention how many look so poorly done. If you're going to get a tattoo, why wouldn't you look into getting a decent artist?
As for Adam, it's just the rainbowness that is hysterical. The thought "I think I'll get it rainbow-colored!" ACTUALLY went through his head.
I want ooooone. I need to put some serious thought into what of, though.

How about the Company boxes filled in with rainbow shades?
Anyway, I would still seriously suggest a quote from Company. Where do you want to get it? I want one on my back at some point, although obviously not in the tramp stamp area. Easy to cover up but not entirely hidden.
Hehe!! It'll be like the gay pride Company boxes. I'm not sure -- maybe my ankle or the back of my shoulder.
I think it would be pretty easy to figure out what I am getting a tattoo of, lol.
Once I get old enough I want to either get a little AIDS ribbon on my wrist or do a little charm bracelet representing each of my closest friends. The AIDS ribbon will probably be the more likely canidate.
I've always wanted to get a tattoo, but now I'm kind of debating whether I want one or not. If I do get one I'd probably get something like a dancer doing a leap or something. I know a few people who have that. I was thinking about getting it on my ankle too. Who knows if this will actually happen though because I'd think I'd chicken out.
I've wanted one for a long time, but never given it any serious thought because I hate needles and I'm afraid it would hurt. I also thought my parents would murder me if I got one, but my mom actually seems like she'd be okay with it.

Don't you get allergy shots all the time, though? I so think you should go for it.
i have thought about getting a small one from time to time. but i too hate needles and my hubby would kill me lol. he hates tattoos on girls.
Yeah -- and I'm fine with like, piercings and stuff like that, but I heard they hurt a lot AFTER you get them done. :/
Well, it all depends on your thresh-hold for pain. Of course it will be tender after, but you just jabbed needles endlessly into your skin, that is to be expected. However, I have never heard it lasting more than like a week. Also, getting a small tattoo wouldn't be that bad. If you are worrying about about pain, just be careful where you choose. Areas with a lot of bone contact can hurt more than others.
I'm terrified of needles in many, many contexts, but I was fine with getting a tattoo. I think it's because it doesn't look like a needle to me. It's like, a weird mechanical pen or something. It just felt like a buzzing against your skin; it's not like a needle actually being inserted through the skin, which is what seriously terrifies me to the point of panic attacks. I think if you can withstand monthly allergy shots, this should be nothing. And it's not really *pain* afterwards, it's just soreness, like when you first get your ears pierced, or what it feels like when you skin your knee.
hiya skittles! What/where did you get tattooed?
