Thanks, Tink, but I'm afraid it all comes down to an addiction to Google.
I met Adam once too, but before I was a fan. I found him to be an interesting mixture of open and reserved, friendly and guarded. His many contradictions are a big part of what keeps me interested in him.

I get cranky in the cold too, so I wouldn't blame him for that unless he was downright rude or something.
Tink, what did his "people" do?
and Adam related by proxy: Can we just discuss how hot Euan Morton looks in the Hair rehearsal video?
Let's discuss away Euan is definitely a hot Scot, I'm not gonna lie~
And since were on the topic of meeting Adam, I don't know how I'd act around him. I mean, the one time that I did meet a famous person was at a book signing; which was pretty cool but scary. I was super nervous, but when I got up there to talk with him I just shook his hand and chatted away. I think the thing is I wouldn't want to act like an insane "fan-girl" and freak him out you know?
hi folks. its been a long day.
no, i haven't seen adam perform. and in fact the only famous person i have ever met was jonathan something from NKOTB when I was like 13.
i live in Omaha right now so it's not like famous people come here a lot. plus i have 6 kids under the age of 13 so it's not like i get out a lot either.
Euan played Claude right? If not who is he & who played Claude?
I hope to meet Adam at Rent, because I've never had the pleasure of meeting him (or Anthony, for that matter). I'd probably be very shy, seeing as that's my personality anyway. With him it might just be elevated. Hopefully if I do meet him I won't be too shy, though.
Polly - Euan didn't play Claude. I forget the guys name, I will have to go dig out my CD.
Chloe, well when I ask a question, you answer it, so I will let the notion that you are the wizard of Adam continue! I don't need to know you secrets! :)

I think it's Harris Doran who played Claude
Yep, IBDB has Claude listed as Harris Doran. It's his only Broadway credit... Does anyone know of anything else he's done?
Harris Doran was in a production of Cabaret here in Pittsburgh... I think he played the Emcee?
(Euan Morton sang Machester England at that Hair benefit)
I've met Adam twice. First was at the Rent CD signing at Virgin, which obviously wasn't very extensive. I was toward the end of the line. While I was waiting, I looked up at Adam and he caught me and flashed this huge grin. When I got up to the table he said something to me and I got nervous and just kind of went "Thanks nice meeting you bye!" before I left.
The other time was at the Goyband shoot.
Where is this Hair rehearsal video?
Oooh, Harris would make a good Emcee!!
Oh, and backing up a bit -- I've been a fan for something like seven years (that makes me feel so old...), so I've met Adam a number of times. I used to be really intimidated by him. I think I found him sort of scary because he's so confident, but over time I've become pretty comfortable around him. He's never been anything but kind to me. He's friendly, funny, sweet, and very laid back. Don't be nervous!

I was chatting with Craww a little while ago about stagedooring with regards to Lea Michele's detractors, and she pointed out that if Lea might not be as gung-ho at the stagedoor as some of the other performers or leave halfway through the line, it's probably a sign that it's difficult for her to do that night after night more than anything. I used to cynically assume that type of behavior is indicative of a personality flaw, and I think it's very easy to assume the worst about a performer when they aren't the #1 performer with regards to fan interaction, but I'm becoming more and more of the opinion that most of these performers really do try to give it their all. Personally, I think it's a bit naive to assume that Adam's "people" are to blame when they tell waiting fans that he's already left when it probably isn't - I think it's probably a result of the venue's orders and at Adam's request - but I'm willing to acknowledge that it's quite likely that he's probably just not as good with the massive crowds of fans as someone like Anthony Rapp might be. And on the flip side, I'm sure there are truly awful people who can fake it so well at the stagedoor for everyone that you'd never know their true colors.
Of course he could just be a straight-up jerk, but spending a day on the set with him really cemented my feeling that he's a generally caring and personable person, if a bit self-contained. I'm usually the first to be cynical about celebrities - or just cynical in general - but I think it's easier to admit that giant crowds probably overwhelm him more than to make his "people" scapegoats. Of course it'll be disappointing if he doesn't do the whole stagedoor thing after Rent, but I'm starting to see a lot of these fan-performer interactions in shades of gray.

I think it takes a certain kind of person with a pretty particular comfort zone to be able to do that night after night. I also think that for a lot of actors, handling stage door fans is very much an acquired skill. Having seen actors navigate their way through that learning process, and witnessed first hand how tricky it is, I'm certainly willing to cut some slack.
I think you misunderstood me, Lexi. I personally couldn't care less if someone "stage doors" or not. I think it is a great experience for a fan, but I don't believe it is a requirement of an actor.
Especially after hearing some of the SA stage door stories, if i was an actor I wouldn't come out for anything, lol. What I was commenting on was a few shows earlier this year when Adam didn't come out, and a lot of people jumped on the "What a jerk!" wagon. We had all discussed it and figured there may have been something else (a.k.a. possible "people", venue, girls screaming Seasons of Love, etc.), because every time someone had met Adam, he was nothing but nice and pleasant with the fans.

I wasn't trying to personally single you out at all. I just saw that you brought up some of the ideas that some of us were previously throwing around and was responding to that as a whole. Even I've said on various occasions that these performers should suck it up and scribble their names a few more times because it's their fanbase that's supporting them, but thinking about it again, maybe it's not quite as black and white as I thought. I personally don't view interacting with a few more people as too much of a challenge because I'm extremely outgoing, but perhaps it's much more difficult for some of these people. The fact that Adam is sweet when he is approached is probably a sign that he's at least making some sort of attempt. Same goes for any performer who is generally kind but doesn't deal with fans for hours in the same way that people like Anthony and some of the Spring Awakening boys do. Basically, I was trying to say that instead of brainstorming reasons as to why he might not be quite as receptive to fan interaction as some other performers might be, it's probably easier to acknowledge the inherent differences among people rather than nitpick the his and his "people's" motivations. In my opinion.

What the idea of someone waiting for you with Spinach isn't appealing?

Hey girls
I wanted to make sure that Adam and Anthony are scheduled to be there at every performance during their 6 weeks at Rent. I am going to buy tickets today for my birthday (sweet 16!).
As far as it has been listed, they are not scheduled to miss any as of right now.
Unless they get sick or have an emergency. I certainly hope they can make every performance, though. It's only 6 weeks.
I had a dream about meeting Adam last night, actually.I had nothing for him to sign though, which always happens in a dream where I meet somebody.
i had a guy sign my shirt once :) I was a dork and had absolutely nothing for him to sign or sign with lol. Possibly why I now carry a purse big enough for an overnight trip lol. I also always have pens, pencils, post-its, notebooks etc
Yeah, they're definitely scheduled to do all eight shows.
I've had people sign t-shirts. Adam is one of them. Back in the day.
i think I've only had the NY Giants sign a t-shirt. Otherwise, I really haven't gotten many things signed like on the spot. Adam signed my Aida Cd booklet (thank you to the girl that let me borrow the Sharpie, well let Adam borrow, he asked, he's cool like that.).
I will admit to having my body signed once by a rock band, because I was young and stupid and thought I was cool and wild, lol! The good ol' days!
I usually always carry a pen or marker, especially to Broadway shows. It wasn't necessary when I saw Tarzan, because the whole cast was equipped with markers, but it was after Rent. With the exception of Chris Hanke.
I learned to carry sharpies with me if I'm going to be stagedooring in Toronto. Shoshana Bean carried her own silver sharpie with her. I didn't bring anything with me to see Cary Shields because I had nothing that he could sign.
