Those girls in the YouTube video were sitting in the hallway at the Nederlander because they're these psychotic little girls (well, technically, nearly all of them are late teens and more than old enough to know better). They do the Rent lotto 4 times every weekend during the school year and ever more often during the summer. In the two hours between the lotto (which they inevitably win, because the world is out to punish sane people) and the show, they sit in the hallway of the Nederlander by the stagedoor so they can greet the actors as they come in before the show. Nevermind that they will also speak to them at length at the stagedoor AFTER the show. It's this pathetic attempt to have as much "contact" with the actors as possible. Because, saying "Hi Haven" before the show means they're BFF, obviously. One of the girls' got her mom to pay about $5000 to have a "walk-on" role in Rent for the BC/EFA auctions. She gets to sit up on the platform for the whole 3 minutes during Life Support. She's 13.

They probably didn't react to Adam because they had no idea who he was, because clearly, unless someone is in the current cast, they don't matter. No, but really, they just weren't expecting him at all and were in a state of shock and embarrassment (as evidenced by putting their puppets down AFTER he walked by and saw them).

After Chess rehearsal, we watched a Rent video. At 4am and while singing Out Tonight at the top of our lungs, we decided we would see Rent today. Unfortunately, we forgot until we walked up to the theatre for the lotto that the summer schedule doesn't have shows on Sundays. Bleh. I really wanted to see it again. August 15-18 is too far. re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, Part 12

Woah, these girls would probably be flattered if they knew we were discussing them, hehe. If Adam saw me sitting outside playing with a puppet, I'd be embarrassed too.

Well, you can try the lotto again before that. I'm sure they'd be happy to see other people besides those four girls show up, lol.

I'm really surprised by how many very young fans there are of Rent. I mean, when I saw it for the first time, I think I was about 13 or so, and I thought I "got" it - but these fans are so hardcore. I didn't ever think that Rent would be something that attracted pre-teen fans by the school bus load.

The puppet thing looked positively sane after seeing one of them stroking Haven Burton's hair with a glazed look of rapture in her eyes.

Seeing how bad they can be, I'm sort of hoping that there's no reason to expect anything worse over Adam and Anthony's run. I know, of course, that's probably naive.

Not only were they puppets, but they were puppets of the Rent characters. And the 13-year-old girl is the exception rather than the rule- most of the really obsessive/psychotic Rent fans are there 16-21.

I've been visiting the city the last few days, but unless I drunkenly justify staying another day, I'm going home tomorrow and I'm not going to be able to get back into the city until that trip in mid-August. Not everyone lives within an hour of the city and can rush in to see a show 15 times in 3 months after months of apathy.

I do wish I could justify any of my recent and future trips to New York. Especially since credit debt is my biggest fear. After death. But before nuclear war.

Being so close to the date erases the anger, but I was extremely annoyed when I found out about the Rapp and Pascal return to Rent, because I knew I could not and would not resist.

Well, I was just reading that other thread about the creepiest fan group, and hand puppets of the Rent characters seems like nothing compared to what some of these other fans do.

Skittles, I don't know if your last comment is directed at me or not, but if it is, your judgmental tone is not appreciated. If it wasn't, I apologize

Ha, the part about the girl stroking Haven's hair reminds me of the one who like, snuggled Chris Hanke's scarf. Similar mental image.

Hahaha. A bunch of girls and I just snuck into the computer lab to check facebooks and everything. I just want to say 2 random things because I'll forget them if I don't say them now. We went out to dinner tonight and our waiter kind of looked like Raul. I was very excited. Also, on the drive down to camp my sister was looking through the CD cover for Aida and she says to me, "I'm sorry but Adam has manboobs." I started laughing really hard and I couldn't stop!

Yes, I got Aida soon after I discovered there was life to Adam outside RENT. Buzz took me to go get the cast recording from a local CD shop, and I opened it in the car. He was looking over my shoulder and gave me a weird look with that picture. He was like "ummm, THAT's him???". It was funny.

hey stagey! nice of you to drop in!

misschung- yeah i've seen that pic but i just didn't make the connection.

i would be embarrassed if anyone i admired saw me sitting on the floor playing with paper bag puppets too. well, maybe not if i was amusing my kids with them but just playing with puppets to play with puppets is something else entirely.

which picture are you talking about that is in the Aida cd cover? i bought mine off itunes so i didn't get the cover

Poor Adam....

I'm really excited for the 30th, too, just to hear the reviews. It's weird how time flies...

I was listening to Glory last night, and I was in disbelief that I will actually be able to hear him sing that next week.

That is really shocking. It seems like yesterday I was getting tickets...Now, only a month left till I see it, which isn't long compared to before. And August is a busy month.

Well, it's probably not admiration so much as it is "OMG WE WANT TO HAVE HIS BABIES."

I cried the first time I saw Adam sing Glory live. It was embarassing; I didn't expect to be THAT affected by it. That's always been one of my favorite songs in the show, even before I head the cast album (I didn't hear it until after I had seen the show).

yeah see, i never understood that kind of obsession. with me, it's the fact that I admire them. whether it's their singing ability, or acting ability, dancing, spelling, writing, something. I am not the kind that just wants to go screw some guy cause he can sing. I enjoy the creative energy that tends to flow around people with those types of skills though.

and that is definitely the worst photo of Adam I have ever seen. the lighting was so wrong there. and that second one looks cartoony.

I agree. I've never actually wanted to have someone's babies. I like people, like Adam, for their talent and creativity.

The people who want to have his babies freak me out a little...

I certainly get it. I just think it's annoying.

And I really don't think they mean it literally -- these kinds of fans are hyperbolic in everything they do. I'm sure they don't ACTUALLY want to have his babies. It's a blunt yet... somehow seemingly more tame way of saying they want to bang the guy.

see to me, saying to want to screw somebody is actually less frightening than saying you want to have kids with them. i mean people have one night stands all the time. there's no relationship there. but when you say you want to have someone's baby it's like you are forcing them into a relationship where otherwise there might not be one.

ok that really doesn't come out like i meant for it to, but i think you'll get my meaning
