The first time I saw him sing it was in 2004. Right after Aida closed and right before Civilian came out, at that concert he did with Daphne out in New Jersey. Nobody expected it, it was a total surprise. He started doing it fairly regularly at that point, I think. I remember it being in one, if not both, of the Joe's Pub concerts that coincided with Civilian being released a few months later, which was shortly before the movie started filming.

Yeah, I'm sure he's pretty annoyed by all the OSG requests he must get at his shows, and how everyone is pretty much expecting him to sing it each time. It's nice that he has changed it up a bit.
I would really love to hear him sing "Rocketman"
Heh, I remember that video from Broadway.com circa-APB where he was complaining about everyone asking him to sing Glory and said that part of his life was over and he had moved on.

One of the fans tonight was wearing Roger pants.

I remember reading about some girl going up to Constantine Maroulis and asking him to light her candle. He was just about the worst Roger ever and she did this AFTER American Idol, just to act like she knew of him from "back when". I associate all candle freaks with her. They've all heard it, it's not cute, move on.

Some people think wearing Roger pants and a top is getting dressed up.
And omg Chess picture. Two of the best days ever.
The audience was, for the most part, decently behaved. I was kind of shocked!
Probably intimidated by the venue!

Hah, seriously.
awww, now see missing Pity does make me sad I didn't go.
Please tell me he at least had some new banter going on, or is the same ol' jokes still?
Hah, no, mostly new stuff. When he started doing the whole "I've had the privilege to perform so many great songs on Broadway" spiel, I thought it was going to be Maybe This Time, which is fine because that's one of my favorite songs, but I'm so glad it was PIty the Child instead.

heh, that was cute. He gave some other girl a kiss on the cheek, per her friend's request, for a picture. He seemed in good spirits last night
I'm glad everyone had a good time last night. It seems like the show was different from those of the past. It's good he decided to go for some variety.
Aww, that was pretty cute.
I'm still waiting to see if people will upload videos from last night. Nothing yet.

The place was pretty small, and they said at the beginning "no pictures or recording devices," so it was prb hard to catch anything. You never know, though. I still laugh at those youtube clips of Rent taken from the lotto seats!
ok i just got back. Wore a dress but no one cared. i feel like I could have definitely gotten away with jeans or roger pants.. just saying. Sat so close.. such a nice venue, and I was really able to catch up with my mom. loved the set- my only two complaints were that 1) it as too short and 2) what the crap- why are there always these loud hecklers and stupid people who want the performers to sing happy birthday to their friends. Idina had it way worse, but where do these people come from. Not too many "I love yous," just lots of wooos.
I'm sorry-- the sets are limited and the last thing I want to hear is is stupid happy birthday. They announced that he is coming back to feinstein's for the fall season, so I think he liked the setting. My two fave songs were actually cybele the song for his wife and pity the child. He told a story before about ptc about how during chess when it was dark idina turned to him and said.. not too bad for two kids from syosset. And before his latin number he told a whole story about how he has no latin in him (but lots of jew- which got a huge cheer) and how he was lucky enough to have daphne on the song, but that she wasn't there. At the end this drunk jerkoff said "wow, you really don't have any latin in you." What an arse. I almost beat him.
all in all a great night, great mojitos and dinner prices were reasonable.
I got some audio, and ironically adam's black pants for all of pity the child.. just have to find some time in my life.
Oh and Larry Edoff was awesome-- and his wife was so cute selling CDs ready to pop. I just really liked all of them-- it was a fun show and I was happy to be there as a fan. Oh and my mom had so much fun she fell asleep watching rent just now.
