re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

Not that I particularly like MySpace, but I love that he calls MySpace obsolete while his own website features scrolling text.

Also? "Phasing out" totally sounds like an Ilana-ism.

Because someone wants to be in control. She obviously wants the place that's HER creation to be the one that gets the most use.

It makes way more sense to maintain both a MySpace account and a website. One's obviously popular and great for networking, while the other can present more of a professional front.

This feels futile, but couldn't some of you say that to him there? He's got 20,000 "friends" and 200,000 views on his myspace. Even if he stops blogging there he should keep it as a way to contact those 20,000 people. Not all of them are going to hook up with his website, by any means. I would guess a lot of them are more casual fans.

well and the fact that "maintaining" a myspace page really isn't that difficult

I agree, bad idea to phase out myspace. That's where all the kids and bands hang out. No reason you can't apply your updates to all 4 places at once. I have been a webmaster for several sites now going on 10+ years and I learned to cave to myspace and facebook 4 years ago. So important with networking and their modules improve everyday. Not for nothing, there is no way in hell's half acre that Adam wrote that last post. He can't spell "obsolete" correctly. Come on now people. This week is pure comedy already.

On a more serious note, there really is no logic behind this. Even if MySpace isn't as popular as it once was, why not take advantage of having 20,000 "friends" on there when releasing information about a new album? Having only one blog is probably a good idea, but why not use your established presence on MySpace if you can?

Of course, I bet a certain someone is reading this and will ultimately take our advice, but it's sad that nearly every single aspect of the website and the internet PR is and has been unprofessional and foolish.

Exactly. It makes absolutely ZERO sense to just eliminate a very, very easy way to stay connected with casual fans and get information out to tens of thousands of people in a few clicks. WHY would you think it's a good idea to eliminate that? That's unbelievably stupid.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

well, that and at least on myspace you can subscribe to the blog and be notified if something new is posted, as well as the bulletin system. That way even if you aren't an avid fan you stay up to date and not have to check a freakin website everyday.

I have a feeling the next note will say "we are not deleting the page, but just want the everyday convo/chatting/picture posting be moved over to the website forum" or something. Which is fine, but go about it the right way..

To get information out from the webpage, you'll have to have people sign up for an e-mail list or something. Isn't the goal to reach as many people as possible? Deletion of that MySpace page is positively moronic.

Sadly, Adam's MySpace IS the more professional site.

This is such a bad idea. No one is going to check his site daily for updates and his webmaster certainly isn't capable of sending out notifications to 20,000 people in the same way MySpace does. Seriously, it's like she's attempting some record for fastest nosedive of a fanbase.

Wow. That is beyond stupid. Sure, send even more nutso fans to something that is supposed to be an OFFICIAL website. I also really don't think Adam should even be allowed to blog (especially not with that grammar) on a professional webpage. Ah well.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

The thing with MySpace is that people who have accounts generally log in daily -- or at least every few days -- because contact with and updates on lots of people are centralized in one place. You don't necessarily go check your MySpace ONLY when you want information on Adam, but you may very well get it when you just HAPPEN to log in -- whereas with an official website, you have to be like, "oh, hey, I think I want to go check up on Adam." It's MUCH better to throw that information into someone's daily check-in context than to rely on them to go LOOK for it.

I don't know if that makes sense. I'm so tired.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

I don't get why he/they'd want all the "nonsense" on his official site. Way to look professional. I swear, that guestbook is going to turn into one giant message board.

ETA- I don't think having his blog on the site is necessarily a bad thing as long as he's not blogging on every issue every day. It would be good to have it all in one place knowing that it's coming from him. I don't understand any of the logic behind anything that's gone on in the past week. I feel like I'm in some kind of Adam-twilight zone.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

I know what you're saying, Emcee. I don't have a MySpace, but I can see how it would be easier to get notified of something when you are doing something you do often (like logging into MySpace) than to have to go looking for it in a place you don't normally frequent.

Have they even LOOKED at some of what gets posted on MySpace? We're talking about a group of people who talk about getting turned on by his wedding ring and engage in what is essentially role-playing as the Pascal family. I'm sure that kind of discussion on the home page of the website is going to look great.

I just don't understand any of this. It's like Murphy's Law on display.
