Of course I"m not suggesting anyone subscribe just to see that show. I posted that link just in case one of you already has the here! network on your cable service. I see that comes from a new photo section entitled "Old and Embarrassing," and this was a promo shot for the band when it was called Wine and Vision.

Nothing has changed all that much. We still have the earrings, necklaces and bracelets, the weirdly patterned garments, and the ever-popular controversial haircut.

ETA: Whoops, forgot the even more popular open shirt.

OMG i want to braid his hair!!! Or maybe a high on top of the head cheerleader pony tail?

I really can't laugh though, I find the whole 80's hair band look so oddly attractive, lol.

I asked Bernie about casting Rent, and he said when he got the demo tape of the show (with songs sung by Jonathan Larson), he asked the NY Theater Workshop if they'd consider not doing it! Before you think he has no taste whatsoever, let me just say that everyone I've interviewed who was in that original cast said that the demo sounded horrible because even though Larson was a genius writer, his singing on the demo was not up to snuff. Taye Diggs was the first person they cast in the show (coming right from Lincoln Center's Carousel), and the hard role to cast was turning out to be Roger. Bernie finally had one of his people comb the Village Voice for those ads where people offer rock 'n roll voice lessons, and they asked the teachers to send in any of their students who were interested. Bernie said that the next day, the lobby was filled with a mélange of kooky looking people…and Adam Pascal. They prayed he could sing...and he was amazing (even though he couldn't perform with his eyes open…rock star style). Thank goodness everyone loved him, and Adam got the gig.

My goodness, if you just chop his hair off in that photo, he could almost pass for 36 (or is he 37...?) year old Adam. I almost had to do a double take to make sure it wasn't photoshopped from a recent photo.

He really hasn't changed a bit.

He looks younger in this angle, and you can also see his hair struggling to curl. Adam's look is positively restrained next to his friend on the left. Looking at the pre-teen pictures, I started to wonder where they found all that spandex and cut-out leather.

Oh. I was assuming that those were taken at different points just because of how different he looks in the one Chloe posted. He looks so much younger in the one with just the three of them.
