I think Craww and I best described it as striking us as disingenuous. Not consciously, of course. Adam Pascal is never consciously disingenuous. It's trying to be this epic rawk out song and just ends up sounding kind of sounds ridiculous. And like it's trying too hard. To me.

Because I'm not sure it's possible to be unconsciously disingenuous.

Maybe I'm being a bit imprecise with my language, but I'd probably label Adam's work in Mute somewhat disingenuous, in the sense that they don't really objectively fit him as a person (as he's since admitted), despite that I'm sure he really thought he was some sort of super hardcore metal rocker when helping to write those songs.

Not exactly the same situation with Wonderchild, but I've always gotten a similar vibe from the song. Other than if you're screaming but the sonar doesn't hear you 'cause you're so far under radar that you don't show up on anybody's video, I don't have any objective examples of the song trying too hard, but it's a somewhat inexplicable vibe I've always felt from the song. Of course, this is all muddled in intent, perceived intent, general vibes, and personal preferences.

However, it's obvious that a lot of Adam fans like the song, so more power to Wonderchild, really. Your eyes about to see!

See, I like that song. I agree it has the same Wondahchild vibe, but the song is an occasional guilty pleasure for me in spite of it. Maybe it's 'cause I think the voice he uses for you want the answers to be in a tongue you understand is totally sexy. Meow meow!

...meow meow? I lol'd, for real. I can't entirely disagree or anything. Ordinary Boy is just as bad and I'm a big fan of that breathy little bridge. Like Magenta, but not as gay.

Yeah, honestly, if I break it down song by song, half are guilty pleasures (guilt and pleasure at varying ratios), a quarter I think are legitimately non-embarrassingly good, and then the other quarter is the neutral filler.

well, someone posted the sparkly picture on adam's myspace and it wasn't me.

I agree that some of the musical aspects of some of Adam's songs do at times feel as if he's trying too hard. I don't think I could say that for the lyrics though. When I break down the lyrics to most of his songs I understand what it is he's trying to say. Maybe because I can identify with Wonderchild it's hard to say it's a bad song.

I'm looking forward to what the new CD and new tour will bring.

I don't think this has been mentioned yet, but up on YouTube is a brief video of the curtain call from Adam and Anthony's final night. The video is a bit bumpy, and there are some heads in the way, but for those of us who couldn't be there, it was really nice to see.

Also, just an interesting tidbit, I was playing around on Pollstar Pro this morning as my company has an account. There is a feature that allows you to look up tour histories, including such information as average number of tickets sold per show, as well as the average amount an artist makes per show, etc. I looked up a ton of artists, both mainstream and not, and Adam was the only performer who I researched that had no reports, or really any information on them besides the contact information for this booking agency. Just saying...I found it somewhat odd.

He hasn't been on tour they way it's usually defined. His dates have been scattered and not publicised as a group, usually.
