That clip's from around last November, right? It's funny that he looks so different now (especially after just getting used to the bleached look).

I was so clueless during my Rent movie blog phase. I knew pretty much nothing about Rent.

I think it's one of the worst shows I've ever seen, bar none. By the end of the show, I was laughing at the most melodramatic events. I do have to admit that thought crossed my mind that it might be a passable show when viewing drunk.

If the person who called you is who I'm guessing it is, I think it's hysterical that Adam Pascal has invaded her dreams.

Why did you dislike it so much, Lexi? I gather that it has a rather melodramatic Victorian plotline - was that it?

And I don't normally dwell on the negative, but what do you consider the worst show you've seen, Emcee? I was trying to think of mine, but couldn't really come up with anything. Even a show like the Follies revival of a few years ago, which doesn't seem to be very well thought of, I really enjoyed. Then again, I only see a handful of shows each season.

Chloe - I agree I tried thinking about it and I have like every show I have seen (regional, off broadway, broadway) in some way. I may not want to see it ever again, but I have come away finding something positive.

I have to say, the Spring Awakening CD gets more play in my car than almost any other CD I own. I just love it.

The worst show I've ever seen would probably be Copacabana. It had its funny moments at the time, but the more I think about it, the worse it seems!

For HS musical productions, I've seen - Secret Garden, Godspell (was in it unfortunately), Bye Bye Birdie, Little Shop, and Fiddler for musicals. All were pretty decently done.

Uuum. I don't even know. I have seen so much bad theater, for a lot of reasons. One being that I like to try to see lots of different kinds of things, even if they aren't up my alley or I know they're going to be bad. It's good "exercise." The other being that for my job last summer, I had to cover things in a lot of the summer festivals, which tend to be horrible. On Broadway? Probably Brooklyn or Good Vibrations. I saw In My Life, too. I didn't love Spring Awakening by any measure, but compared to those, that thing is pure genius. They were trainwrecks. In other places? I could make a list that goes on and on, but everything is obscure. I once saw a half-modernized version of Romeo and Juliet that involved some bondage. I saw "Air Guitar: The Musical," which was... well, awesomely bad. It was part of the Fringe. There was a musical adaptation of Macbeth, that just... made no sense. I couldn't even explain it to someone if I tried, that's how bad it was. I'm having a mental block right now as to the names of the true worst things I've ever seen, but a lot of them were those kinds of things. Of course, it's not like I didn't see the majority of these things voluntarily (to a degree -- some were for a class, etc.) but still... baaaad.

I find the idea of being trapped watching a truly awful performance so horrifying that I avoid anything that I think will be that bad. Cowardly, I know. I say "trapped" because I would probably feel too bad for the performers to be able to walk out.

To get back to the positive, here's a new actor to watch out for - James McAvoy. He's in The Last King of Scotland playing a Scot (which he is), Starter for 10 (opening Friday) playing an Englishman, and Penelope playing an American. I've seen him in one of these so far, and he's very talented and charismatic.

I saw your thread on the main board, but honestly don't have much to add since I haven't seen the show yet. It's still one of the shows I plan on seeing when I'm in New York over spring break, if only so I can come to a conclusion about it.

I think there's a handful of songs that I find actually listenable (in the car, etc), but I thought it was from me not having seen the show and hearing the songs only out of context. From what you've said- maybe they really just aren't that good to begin with.

I agree with you, Chloe. Taking a night or two away from my friends while on vacation to see a show alone and feeling "trapped" after intermission terrifies me.
