it seems to me that people deal best when they are simply told the truth, right from the start
That's a nice sentiment, but when applied to your arguments about Rent 10, it doesn't work. I was never told that Idina, Taye and Jesse wouldn't be at the Rent 10 afterparty. I dealt. Like I said, why fault HIM when others do the same? Yes, it's the Adam thread and we're talking about Adam, but you're not posting in the Idina thread about how rude and bad it was that she wasn't at the after party. It was 6 months ago. Get over it. The instance we're talking about was only 3 days ago.
Yikes, it's so easy for things to get heated up here in cyberspace. I'll bet that if we were all in a room together these sorts of discussions would have a much gentler tone. Could we all try to give each other a little more benefit of the doubt?
The bottom line is that I don't imagine Adam had a clue as to what was going on. He had probably never said he was appearing at the party, spent some time with family members, was asked by the guard if he could sign for a few fans, said yes, saw the fans, and then left.

If you were over it, you wouldn't have brought it up in the first place. Don't blame me for being mean when I just reacted to what you clearly stated in your posts. And it is much easier to run away and accuse me of being hostile or whatever rather than reacting to the points I made proving your "argument" wrong, isn't it?
*Don't mind me, I'm just scooting in*
I really love Adam Pascal's "If You Could See Her" when he played the Emcee. Mainly, it's just enjoyable watching him play a role so different from Roger. And I loved him on Cold Case (not the fact that he got killed off) but the fact he was auditioning for Cabaret and wound up being Cliff. He looked so adorable!

Yooo.
The Cold Case episode always reminds me of how sweetestsiren and I read the leaked script and was poking fun at it. "Dude, you don't even have your own SONG."
Dennis Hofferman!!
I still can't get over how cheesy the production looked. The Emcee was dressed like a children's birthday party magician.

True, Cliff gets jipped out of singing... but I have to say it was hilarious when he messed up "Willkommen". Really, I just liked the snarky music director who was like "Oh it figures!" when Adam's character wanted to use that particular song.
And then, the fact that Adam's character drove a cab and he was trying out for Cabaret made me laugh, too.
But I'm a loser like that so I don't expect anyone else to find it as funny.
Anyways...
I just wanted to say I like Adam Pascal. He is one awesome dude.
*I'll stop pestering you guys now.* :)

Heh, yeah, the purposely flat singing was hilarious.
Nooo, stay, it's okay!
That was so funny, Lexi! I laughed so much over the "The EMCEE is the star of the show!" thing and Adam's character's death scene. It actually ended up being more favorable than I was imagining, but with Adam having played the Emcee, the "Cliff sucks" parts were amusing.
Heh. I just read something speculating on the sexuality of the '98 revival Emcees, and the post listed seven of nine, and was like "see, ALL of them were either gay, bisexual, or strongly rumored to be!" Adam was one of two left out, and people corrected it, but I just found it funny that he was like, conveniently removed from that reality. If he didn't fit, he didn't exist.
YES, I found it where you all think I did.
I HAVE A NEW BAD HABIT.
Anyway. I don't think I can even describe my happiness at seeing Adam play the Emcee. Man, that was such a long time ago! You could just tell he loved it.

I had no idea that John Stamos was heavily rumored to be gay or bisexual until reading that.
I have THE WORST hiccups.
Adaaaam. April.
Is he, though? I could see it, but I don't think I've heard anything specific.
For shame, Em.
Anyway, barring the possibility of, like, stealing a car, I doubt I'll be able to go to Adam's concert in Virginia. Excuse to come visit in April?

Hah, I remember reading that post.
LuvtheEmcee: You saw Adam in Cabaret? That is so cool!! Would you mind telling me what it was like (or whatever you remember from it)?
You know, in retrospect, he probably wasn't the full-on revelation I thought he was at the time, because I was just so. thrilled. to see him. But, that said, I still, three years and viewings of several better Emcees played by more experienced actors later, think that he was absolutely wonderful. It's a part that relies so, so heavily on sex appeal, which obviously Adam has in excess, and he used every bit of it to his advantage. His performance was obviously beautifully sung, and you could tell that he was both having fun and working his ass off. He danced shockingly well and just did a really great job of embodying a very difficult, substantial, heavy role. He was creepy when he needed to be, lovable when he could be, and totally heartbreaking, which is absolutely necessary for the part, IMO. His improv comedy bits were a little bit rocky, but he improved a lot in those and all areas; I saw him twice, once about a month into his run and once two months later, the day the show closed. I remember my initial reaction being that in that performance, I probably saw from him everything I never, ever expected to see. I was totally impressed, and really proud of him.
Yeah, same here. I was blown away by his utter transformation. He was in character so well, and the fact that he was loving every minute onstage was clearly evident. Of course I have to give him credit for how well he did in the choreography, because dancing's always been his weakest link and he had a relatively short rehearsal time for the show. In that role he really convinced me of his substantial skill as an actor - he wasn't just relying on his voice to carry him through. All his vocals were nevertheless amazing. I saw it a couple weeks before closing, and he had the comedy down for sure by then. Wow, I could go on about his performance forever - a definite favorite.
I use this anecdote a lot, but before he joined the show, when the one and only press photo was released, I printed it out and paced around my kitchen with it for like an hour while my mom was cooking. And I just kept staring at it, trying to find him underneath all of that. I felt like the physical transformation was extremely shocking, but the whole thing overall really, like you said, Ariella, did solidify my belief in his acting. If he couldn't act for sh*t like some say, he never, ever would have pulled that show off, ESPECIALLY with only half the rehearsal time all of the other Emcees had. You need a lot more than good looks and a great voice to get you to do well with a part like that, because it's so complex.
My God, I can't believe it was three years ago.
Thats amazing, thanks for telling me about it
Hmm...since I have nothing else to do (and its MEA break, huzzah!) Perhaps we could ponder a question:
What type of characters/roles would you like to see Adam do? I always thought of him as a great Freddy Trumper; since he played the part in the benefit concert and sang his glorious ass off in "Pity the Child."
For some reason, that's always a really hard question for me to answer. I think it's mostly because casting just does not happen to be my forte. People often ask me "what's your dream role for ____?" and I just... never really know. I'd like to see him try Hedwig, I guess, and when he mentioned wanting to do Billy Flynn, that was definitely interesting to me, too. But I don't know in the way of specific roles; I just sort of want to see him continue to step out of his comfort zone.
He was definitely born to play Freddy in Chess. I think he'd be an amazing Jesus in JCS too, but I believe he's gone on record as saying he doesn't like that show very much, and wouldn't ever want to do it.
Yeah, he has, but other things said in that interview and ones around the same time have since been proven wrong.
You know, like "do you think you'd ever go back to AIDA?" "Nope."
And then....
So, minds change. Not that I think it would be revived again so soon, anyway.
Yes, I totally agree. Chess needs to be revived ASAP, and Adam is so perfect as Freddie. I think he fits more as Judas in JCS than Jesus, no? But apparently he's strongly opposed to the idea.
Eh, I don't know. Despite his rock-star edge, he has a charm and sensitivity that I think really work for Jesus. Of course, he could sing either role brilliantly.

If he wont ever do JCS, he should at least sing a few songs from it for me.
