I'm a massive speed-reader- always have been. When I was in middle school, we used to have to read a book at the beginning of class and the teacher would go around to check what page we were on to make sure we were reading at home too. She used to get mad at me because I'd always have a new book and she never believed that I finished the other one.
I'm a slow reader. It gets even worse when I find the reading to be boring.
Night, Chloe.
Whenever we read out loud in class during elementary or middle school, I would get so bored by the slowness that I would wind up reading 3 chapters ahead of what we had been assigned, which was kind of bad when we were reading And Then There Were None and the homework assignment each night was to predict which character would die next.
I always read ahead in my classes. Everybody else would read out loud and they would go too slow for me. So I would be pages ahead of everyone else. Then the teacher would call on me to read and I wouldn't know where we were.

We used to have accelerated reading, and you would read a book and take a test for points. I would always have like 500 points by the end of the quarter and people would be amazed.
Phew, finally caught up!
I just saw BBM with my parents.
The only concerts I've ever been to were either Klezmer and/or Yiddish musuic concerts.
DEAR used to be my favorite part of the day. I love to read.
Katt- I wish they had something like that at my elementary school. I would've loved it!
How did that go, Elphie?
I remember DEAR!
DEAR was awesome!
I never did DEAR, my brother did though.
Well, my mom liked it a lot and my dad thought "it was sad." So, take that as you will. I think he thought it was a well-made movie, but it made him a bit uncomfortable, I guess. I'm proud of both my parents, though.
DEAR and DARE! Good times, man.

I also did DARE, it was awesome.
I wasn't in DEAR, but I was in something similar...I don't remember what we called it. It was always nice to be able to do it on my time at my pace, as I too was a fast reader.
I did DARE too, except I never graduated. I had food poisoning the night before the ceremony and my mom wouldn't let me go.

Our DARE lady did drugs, and she smoked. She came out of the bathroom high or something.
At my sister's school it's not "DEAR", but "SOAR"; "Start Out And Read", which I think is wierd.
I still wear my DARE shirt.
I did DARE, not DEAR. I got an award for having the neatest workbook. Heh.
Amber, you bound to be corrupt now.
We also didn't have DEAR, just DARE. I'm a reasonably fast reader, but the main thing is that I usually get so engrossed in a book that I'll do nothing else until I finish it. It's dangerous for me to start reading something when I don't have very much free time.
I got second place in the DARE essay writing contest in my class. My friend won and she got to go to Washington, DC. I was SO jealous. :-P
I'm going to bed. I have to work tomorrow at 9. That's the problem with working in a church nursery, you don't get weekends off!

Are you implying I wasn't corrupt before? Muahahaha
I remember doing this program called GREAT in middle school. It stood for Gang Resistance Education something-or-other.

That's definitely how I am. Once I get drawn into a book, I can't put it down. Fortunately, I can often read more than 200 pages in an hour if I don't have any distractions to deal with.
Well, I've noticed you've been getting progressively worse. Now I know the reason .
