Raul's naked! With Adam, well....we can wish.

Fantab, I'll get the pic up eventually. They are hard to describe.

AHHHH. You guys, I'm literally speechless right now. I've thought for a while that an 8th grader at my synagogue has a crush on me, and I told him my AIM the other day, and he IMed me the SECOND I signed on, and now he sent me to this link about a crush calculator or something, and...I don't know what to do!! AHHHHHHHHHH! HELP!

Regarding NYU: I'd recommend the Princeton Review's website (or, if you can afford it, one of their college guidebooks) for exact details. I believe approximately 28% of applicants are accepted with an average SAT score in the upper 1300s-low 1400s (old scale).

The NYU newspaper published some data about acceptance rates last week, if anyone is interested: http://www.nyunews.com/vnews/display.v/ART/2006/02/02/43e1c87f52d5d?in_archive=1

I think the extent of anything I've done would be saving geometry proofs in my calculator and copying the first 18 lines of The Canterbury Tales out of my purse on a "memorization test" (don't ask, my teacher was odd).

Heh, our math teachers made us use cheapo calculators on tests so we couldn't do that, and one of my wackier professors enjoyed telling us the story of how she cheated on her Astronomy midterm in college by writing the information on her legs and wearing a skirt the day of the test.

What was wrong with the Cat Scratch Club?

I wasn't the one who originally brought this up, but I always imagined it as a seedy S&M club in a run-down East Village building, not something that looks as nice as Scores!

Elphie, I think you should gently just tell him that you're not interested. :) Say that you're flattered that he thinks that much of you, but you're a bit old for him.

Don't do that crush calculator thing.

And I've definitely regretted giving my screename to people I met at this rally thing. I knew them for like two days and they IM me constantly!

That's fun. Raul's naked! With Adam, well....we can wish. Yay for crazy English teachers.

I think I can still recite most of it.
"Whan that Aprille with his shores sote,
The droghte of March perced to the rote"

*stops*

It's things like this that end up clogging my memory so that I can't memorize things now, I think.

Yeah, it was a little too nice, but I did like how in the outside shot of it, the lights of the sign were the only bright thing on the street.

I gave him my AIM because he asked. What was I supposed to do? Say NO to his face?

Okay, so it's not *quite* as bad as I thought. The crush calculator made me put in my name and put the name of my crush (I put Raul, hee). Then it went "Aha! You've been fooled! Your crushes have been sent to (this guy)." He said he wanted to use it as blackmail. But I still don't know what to think... AHHHHH!

Elphie, whatever you do, do not go to that online crush calculator thing. I went to eCrush 5 years ago to try to guess the identity of someone who sent me a crush notification, and I'm still getting spam from some poetry competition that I had to enter to get a hint.

BG, thanks for the link. Holy ****, if they only plan to admit 4,100 people and received 35,073 applications -- that's an 11.8% acceptance rate! I guess I'm lucky!

Elphie, I always tell the people I have no desire to communciate with via AIM that I don't have a screenname.

SD~ It's not that I have no desire to communicate with him; I like him well enough, but merely as a sort of friend. Also, when he asked, my sister was sitting right there and she went "OH, YEAH SHE DOES!" So, I couldn't very well say "No".

Since it was mentioned earlier...Grey's Anatomy tonight...so good!

And as also mentioned just a second ago, do NOT under any circumstances use eCrush/crush calcuators/etc...those just breed spam.

It's okay. I'll deal. Raul's naked! With Adam, well....we can wish.

I didn't have to give my email address for that thing, so maybe I won't get any spam.

I was thinking of those opening lines from The Canterbury Tales just today. My college professor had us learn (what they think might be) the correct pronunciation and take turns reading aloud. He would give the shy girls the dirtier bits to do, of course. But I still remember those opening lines, and kind of how they were pronounced. And how TS Eliot echoed them when he wrote The Wasteland.

April is the cruellest month, breeding
Lilacs out of the dead land, mixing
Memory and desire, stirring
Dull roots with spring rain.

(I had to look up the Eliot though.)

To catch up-

I'm good at essays, but bad at in-class essays because I'm ADHD and I can't sort out my thoughts in time.

I don't intend on cheating, but occasionally my eyes wander during multiple choice tests.

My freshman year, we had to memorize a monologue from Romeo and Juliet. I really wanted to do this one, because I already had most of it memorized but this obnoxious girl got picked first and she wanted to do it just because it was Juliet's, so I got stuck doing a Nanny's speech and I completely blanked on it, so it sucked. Still don't like that girl.

T.S. Eliot? I came in at the right time - I'm always up for some literature-related threadjacking!
I love The Wasteland, with all the images it creates, all the thoughts it provokes, all the references it makes to everything from Buddhism to Shakespeare. I think it's such a beautiful poem; which can be taken as ironic, as one interpretation of the poem is that it criticizes modern society for its lack of culture/beauty.

Guess what.

With this post, I'm a legend.

It took me two weeks after I made my new username.

I talk too much.
