I hated Sirius. I loved the fact that he was "grey", but he still annoyed me. I hate the fact that everyone even remotely good, or at least 3-Dimensional, is in Gryffindor.
Before the 6th book, I had the hope that Snape was one of the grey characters. But no- he's Slytherin and has greasy hair, so he has to be evil. And Harry of course knows more than Dumbledore, so he's right about Snape.
Okay, rant is over for now, I promise.
EDIT: Just wanted to add- Book 5 was a b***h to read (not because of the length, either) but Book 6 was horrible.
It wasn't exactly the ending of 1984 that I didn't like, it was the really climax that I was disappointed in. Not because it was depressing, but because it didn't really make logical sense to me. I'm trying to think of a way of explaining this without spoilers, but it's really difficult.

Just for the record...despite everything, I still don't believe that Snape is evil.
I loved Sirius and the fact that he wasn't black-or-white. I think that there are other characters that fall into that category too, though (especially after the sixth book). I don't think that Harry's right about what he thinks happened with Snape and Dumbledore.
Skittles-- Oh, I can totally see where you're coming from with that. A lot of people that I've talked to have the same problem with the book just not being logical enough in its progression of events, but I think that it was partially a plot device to have things happen so quickly and ambiguously during the climax. I'm not sure, though... either way, I saw the characters' reactions as being more important than the events themselves, I guess.

D_I, I don't know if I liked Sirius on his own merit, so to speak, but I just thought he was a beautifully written character. I completely agree with your point regarding Gryffindor/Slytherin, though.
Ashley -- I think there are other "grey" characters, but Sirius just seemed like the #1 example of that in the series and she killed him off. However, I only skimmed the fifth book and haven't read the sixth, so that could have changed...

Me either. The exchange was just too weird to be taken at face value.

I'm clinging to the hope that Snape's not evil, but J.K. Rowling seems to hate him, so I'm not holding my breath.
And I wanted Blaise Zabini to be good (I had hopes for random Slytherins that were never mentioned- and in the 6th book they were all discussing becoming Death Eaters )
Dumbledore and Snape are both Leglimens or hows-it-spelled, so I'm hoping there was a lot of unspoken exchanges that will be revealed later. Anyone else really thrown off by the weird addition of Lupin/Tonks?
I love Harry Potter, and I can't explain why. I think with the books you either love them or you don't. Sometimes parts of the books bother me, but on the whole I've enjoyed them.

But it was the reactions that didn't make sense to me. I didn't get why he gave Julia up just over the rats.
And to keep up with everyone else, I have no opinion of Snape; I'm trusting JK Rowlings at this point.
SD, yes I am. What makes you ask? If it's about the Adam LJ thing, I blame Rent secrets for putting me in a snarky mood.
