i love this thread..
im a little late thought, but i reafd all the posts
ADAM/RAUL=HOT!
haha...dirty sanchez [he literally wears that shirt everywhere!]
Q-how come when i try and post pics and put the URL in and then look at it...the pics don't come up, but when i edit it and do the same thing they come up?
That thread is just going in circles and it's not like the topic hasn't been discussed before.
I made a new photobucket acount for all Anthony pictures, but theres some Adam in there as well.
And Emcee, some idiot in that FYC thread thought that Idina played Joanne and Adam played Mark. So dont worry about it
Well, BG107 and I are both *extremely* argumentative. But she thinks she's making sense when she's not. She's just trying to legitimize her opinion by saying he's a bad actor, because that has more merit than saying his interpretation didn't sit right with her. I just really don't like that idea that in order to prove you're not a total blockhead, you have to bash someone's acting in its entirety.
Heh, my Photobucket is mainly stuff that I wanted to post somewhere but couldn't hotlink. I have like a gazillion random pics from GettyImages in there.
Oy, that thread is still going? *hugs Em*
I almost get the feeling that some people want to believe that Adam is a bad actor, that somehow he can be blamed for the movie not being a mega-hit, so they keep repeating it over and over.
Well, not only do they want to believe it, but I really think that people believe they're *supposed* to think it. As though they'll look better or something. You can SAY you're not passing it off as fact, but seriously, some people come off really strong.
haha, I love the ones that move, Mandi.
Hooray for the funny face animations! Do you still have the car noises one?
Good stuff
Sometimes people factor character interpretation into their idea of what good acting is, BUT at the same time, a director has a lot of input into how they would prefer an actor to approach the character. Like, ideally a great actor will have the "best" interpretation of the character that he's playing and be able to make it entirely his own. But taking a different approach to a character than what's expected doesn't make you a bad actor, just perhaps not a great one. Besides, with a role like Roger, everyone has vastly different preferences and expectations, so it's kind of impossible to say that someone's a bad actor based on your personal preferences. HAHA I was just about to mention the car noises
That's what I'm saying. I think the two are getting mixed up, and that THAT mix-up is getting mixed up with a need to legitimize an opinion. If you blatantly state that for reasons x, y and z, someone is a terrible actor, that looks a lot better and smarter and more legitimate than "oh, I don't like the way he did it."
He's not a *great* actor, but he's not like a piece of cardboard or something.
*puts foot in mouth*
Mandi, thanks for Adam's funny faces and the car noises. The thread wouldn't be the same without them
And with Adam's acting, some people would rather just agree with everyone else. Especially over at the main board, where if they like Adam's acting, they get attacked. Not many people would spend days defending Adam when the topic has been beaten to death. That's why we love you Em.
He should give me commission.
That's how I am in general. I have to feel like I've sufficiently gotten the last word, and made the other person back down. Then I usually end up feeling bad, like maybe I was too harsh, but in the act, I push really hard.
Exactly--he may not be a *great* actor, but he offered a good performance that was appropriate to that interpretation of the character. For all we know, he could have tried to play it angrier and been asked to tone it down for the cameras.
*note to self* Don't ever disagree with Em.
SS, I'm actually surprised that people aren't automatically jumping to fault Columbus, rather than the actors!
I'm glad that relatively few people have ever *truly* attacked me for liking him.
I love how Adam's awesome facial expressions always get captured on film. And then end up here
I didn't really have a problem with any of their performances. You guys are really just running around in circles. The subject you're arguing keeps changing, but it's really the same thing. You like Adam, and she doesn't.
Exactly, CS. And even though we're like "okay, I think he's a good actor, you think he's not. We get it. Let's drop this," someone always comes back with something -- and both of our arguments, I think, can come off really strong. I think we're both too argumentative to just leave it at "I like him, you don't."
Em, I think you need to go declare your love over at CB.
After all the crap everyone gave Columbus, I'm surprised people aren't mentioning him anywhere in this argument. It's not like he let the actors run free and do whatever they want. Especially with this project, I'm sure there was a decent amount of collaboration, but I'm pretty convinced if he didn't like something Adam was doing, he'd have fixed it.
See, that's why I don't go there. I don't have it in me to go up against them!
But if you ever needed a new hobby. I'm sure that thread would last a while.
I am too, Em. Especially with staging mishaps like "Your Eyes," which I honestly think that even when played by the best actor ever, would've been awkward and unflattering. Even Rosario's acting, which I thought was pretty phenominal, wasn't flattered by the uncomfortable close-ups in that scene. Updated On: 1/16/06 at 01:16 PM
